It is a challenge but I've restricted myself to keeping (in the kitchen) just the ones that are the right size for baking camembert. Once you've bought one like that in Lidl or wherever all you need to do is buy a cheese the right size and then Suzie is your aunt.Miró said:
Does anyone else have a total inability to dispose of any ceramic or glass bowls/dishes/pots that things like yogurt, pate etc come in? I have cupboards full of the blooming' things. My particular failings are 1. a range of yogurt pots that come in pretty shades of pink, blue, yellow, cream and red and 2. Charlie Bigham dishes in cream
I do recycle them as they are useful in non culinary situations. White ones are nice for using with water colour painting. The taller ones are good for paint brushes or for water for cleaning/diluting. Colourful ones can be nice as mini flower vases. They are also useful for gardening - sprouting sweet pea seeds, storing morning glory seeds over winter in the green house etc.
But since I now have a decent collection they mostly go in the recycling bin. I've seen too many in the chazzas priced very low so I don't think they are a much wanted item there. Might depend on the area/shop though.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. I have to confess that I once bought(!) a pink ceramic yogurt pot thingy cos I wanted to make up a set of 6. I have some of the camembert baking dishes....use 'em as saucers for small plant pots.

I like the little tumblers that Nutella comes in. I was mildly irritated that Sainsburys substituted a large jar for the small one last week - despite the substitution coupon.7
-
@Iloveteasets interestingly Nutella actually designed the small jars to become tumblers once empty, it’s not a fluke. 😉
I’ve been using some of the GU pots as water bowls for the birds this summer.✒️ Declutter 2025 🏅👗 Fashion on the Ration 2025 61/66 coupons (5 coupons silver boots)✒️Declutter 2024 🏅🏅🏅(DSis 🏅🏅)

@florianatwobob and the lids fit standard sized tins so can be used for open tins in the fridge. (I know I’m supposed to decant the contents into something else but I’m too lazy!)7

This has reminded me of my mom insisting we all use mustard so she could ensure she got a complete set of the tumblers the stuff was sold in. Being mustard the containers were small but made great juice glasses and had a nice pattern on them to encourage this idea. But the pattern would change every few months so you had to stock up to ensure you got a complete set.Iloveteasets said:I like the little tumblers that Nutella comes in. I always want to keep those GU pots when I buy them.florianatwobob said:

I did go through a phase of recycling old pots and jars to keep bits and pieces in, but when we moved I got rid of a lot of things as I thought I don't want to pay to move old jars that I would have to bubble wrap! They are handy though. I do wash and keep the body scrub tubs from Superdrug and put items in there.4 -
Quite a profitable day today. Popped into BHF where I discovered that they get 3 boxes each week of donations from Am@zon. Historically these returns went to landfill! As a result I’m the proud owner of an enamelled tin for laundry tabs (the dishy tabs will go in there instead) and is currently retailing for £26.99 new from Am@zon and I got for £4.99 and a new wrist rest and mouse mat for £2.99 which is currently retailing for £18.99.Also found a book my DSis has been looking for, the cheapest she’s found it online in good condition second hand has been. £7 inc p&p. Our local hospice shop had it for 50p. She’s made up.✒️ Declutter 2025 🏅👗 Fashion on the Ration 2025 61/66 coupons (5 coupons silver boots)✒️Declutter 2024 🏅🏅🏅(DSis 🏅🏅)

A friend of mine is cleaning out her cupboards and shed, she has an ‘embarrassment of screws’. I keep teasing her about needing to save jam jars for this very reason. I have a stash of Gu pots in the house as well as the shed ones. They’re very handy too for paper clips at work!Wednesday2000 said:
