Went into a different than normal charity shop, Oxfam on Poole high street and saw the 3 Delia "how to cook" books for £1.99 each. I might have bought them except as good as her books are I don't really like her. But thought I'd mention it here in case any of you are in the area and wanted to have a look.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. Cor blimey, saw the most exoensive item I have ever seen in a chazza today. £900, yep nine hundred smackers!!!! In the BHF shop in Northallerton, a Dior bag, (Miss Dior, mini, matt lambs leather in grey, for any handbag aficionados here). Rather disconcertingly they had a photo of a similar bag propped up next to it with a retail price of £3,000+ only they didn't seem to realise that the one they were showing in the photo was two sizes bigger snd therefore more expensive. I do hope anyone considering buying it does their research regarding authenticity as imho BHS often have fake/replica bags. In fact they had a very bad fake Mulberry on sale as well today. Anyhoo, buyer beware as they say!
In the CRUK shop I got a pack of 12 pairs of white trainer socks for £4 and also a b/n Olsen cotton knit jumper in a raspberry shade for £8. For some reason they had loads of b/n Olsen jumpers & cardis.
Many thanks for the sartorial advice re my last purchase - very inspirational!8 -

Not a chazzer, but I bought a bedside table to put in this annoying alcove I have in my house as storage and a footstool. Both came to £30.
I did see a handbag that I picked up in there, but it was made from crocodile skin! Eek.2025 GOALS

I'm on a continuing recycling binge.....MiL has now officially moved permanently to a care home so we are freeing up what was her portion of the house. To help with this I'm clearing out her cupboards.
Now I know that in the care home she will obviously need clothing and some of her knickknacks but there's no point in keeping hard to laundry items like fussy linen blouses that take a lot of ironing as none of the care staff will be doing anything beyond wash, dry, fold. So the charity bags are being filled. Yesterday I dropped 2 off. One was a mix of clothes plus 2 pairs of boxed up barely worn dressy shoes. The other was every pair of foot wear she had that she won't ever need again - close to 30 pairs in total. Plus the ones that I binned as being beyond what any shop would endeavour to sell on.
I had over the last years or so been dropping to the floor of her cupboard any clothing that was too small due to her increased weight. The intention had been to get rid. But after being in hospital for 3 months and basically stopping eating she has lost a substantial amount of weight. (turns out despite her assurance everything is fine her molars are completely rotten making it impossible for her to chew) So I'll be cautious about what I get rid of in case it will now fit her.
But having some clear space in her cupboards means there is room to store some of her other "stuff". She's got a number of what appear to be wedgewood pieces (but no marking so maybe imitation??) as well as her set to wedding china - not a full set but OH doesn't want it to go anywhere. (Royal Doulton Desert Star Atomic - not my taste but I'm boring). There's another set of china (labelled as Trade Winds on some pieces and Waterside on others) that has been through the dish washer and is boxed up ready to go to the chazza. Some pieces are chipped but there's enough to interest someone I think. I'll point out the chips when I drop them off and offer to remove those pieces if they don't think they will sell. Then there's a number of little statues - some held together with blue tack which will need to be "sorted".
And once I'm finished with MiL's stuff maybe I can get on with sorting my own junk pile.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. BTW - if anyone knows about wedgewood and would be able to advise on them being marked I'd be pleased to hear about it.
Also - I hope this doesn't seem too premature, even when dealing with someone who is 96. When FiL died a few years back I cleared out his clothing. Jewelry, watches, ties were set aside for OH to keep and the rest bagged up for a homeless charity. I couldn't believe that one individual could have so very many trousers. 10 - 15 pairs each in beige, in brown, in navy, in black, many with matching jackets. I don't want to have to go through so much work again with MiL and likely with my own mother as well. Or want someone to have to do the same for me eventually (many many decades in the future one hopes!!)I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards.
