I think the sun has got to me! Bought this afty....a wafty white maxi skirt, BNWT from M & S,. original price £39.95. chazza price £4.99. Very full skirt gathered into a wide 5" yoke at waist/hip level. Fabric is very floppy so falls nicely and swishes rather than sticking out. Impressed that the seams are satin bound rather than overlocked! Not sure what to wear with it tho...mebbe a top cropped to the waist or a lightweight shirt knotted at the front???12

It sounds lovely... I could envisage it with a full-sleeved blouse and waistcoat/ skinny top,/ simple jumper and scarf/ fifties-style shirt... lots of possibilities!Miró said:I think the sun has got to me! Look what I got for £9.50 at Preen in Biggleswade. Preen is not exactly a charity shop, it's a Community Interest Company focusing on furniture reuse and also provides a much needed foodbank, plus various other good works. Well worth a visit if passing on the A1 (just off the Sainsburys roundabout).

Anyway, the scales are in perfect condition and match my kitchen decor. My old, perfectly serviceable but boring, ones will be making the trip to Preen when I next visit.15 -
@Miró - your skirt sounds lovely and I'm wondering if wearing one of your long sleeved cotton tops would give it a fifties rock'n'roll vibe. Am I envisaging the skirt properly here, if not ignore my suggestion.
@CarolWHerts - welcome to this thread and congrats on your scales, lovely spot and Preen sounds as though it is well worth a visit.
On my way to yesterday afternoon's walking group rendezvous I nipped into the Sobell House charity shop and found a lovely double bed size beautifully soft fleece that only needs a good wash and which goes wonderfully well with my blue and green bed linen set. When I looked at the price label it had been reduced to £4 so I snapped it up feeling that carrying it squashed into a bag for the rest of the afternoon was worth the effort. Here it is shown against one of the pillowcases from that set of linen. Please ignore the pink and white set in the background, housework has not been a priority this week!

I did just consider leaving it at "Housework?" but didn't want to appear completely slovenly. Well I guess I've blown that now....goldfinches said:

I've been after a cardigan for a week or two, including looking on eBay.
Cleobury charity shop delivered today with a cardigan and top.
The top is ever so slightly tight so I've either got to lose more weight or see if my sister wants it.

I popped into my favourite BHF shop this afternoon on my way to the supermarket to stock up on various types of booze (hic) and snapped up these two lovely cookbooks for £3.50 apiece.
