I would have kept the same items, @goldfinches - in fact I had almost the same jeans and they were my favourites for a long time.goldfinches said:
I said that I'd let you know about the trouser haul I picked up at the BHF yesterday. Sadly nearly all the trousers were an unbecoming cut so they and three tops had to go back this afternoon and I kept these two dull but useful Uniqlo white polo neck long sleeved tops as I wear these almost all year round and can never have too many. I also kept a pair of M*rks Sophia straight legged jeans in a lovely soft greyish black denim.
Then I gave in to temptation and bought these four cookbooks.
I'm now wondering exactly where I can shelve them without buying another bookcase so I may have to start pruning my collection soon.
Just a thought on the books: I once saw a second hand bookseller where the 'bookcases' were literally two stacks of books with a plank resting on them, and layers of the same. Then the books were shelved as normal in between. I never worked out what happened if you wanted the book at the bottom of the lowest stack on the lowest shelf but it did strike me as the perfect book-lovers' environment!
You are allowed to keep all the books so long as we get to try the cheesecake.

I drove past on the right side of the road earlier today, so made an executive decision to stop by, coming out with 2 blouses, 2 summer dresses and yet another rain mac for £10 in total. There were some newbies in the store, squealing "two quid, two quid" with delight! If you ever get a chance to take a tour of Havens its well worth it to see the excellent palliative and end of life care they give. Its my favourite local charity.Wednesday2000 said:

I went into a few shops last week and bought a handbag, a cardigan and a few other bits.
I went into a MIND shop and Sue Ryder yesterday. I did buy two very nice Oasis going out tops, a black and white midi dress, a biscuit tin and an LED candle. Almost £20. Eek.
Leigh Broadway is a waste of time, its a total bargain free-zone. Try the Havens near Topps Tiles for a pleasant surprise (its walkable from you).
I tried the shop after I read what you said earlier. I bought a Topshop Moto denim shirt and a black handbag. It is very nicely laid out in there. No man is worth crawling on this earth.
So much to read, so little time.7 -
Bought a Stellar expresso maker for £5. Not damaged. Worth about £75 new. I visit the shop regularly. Bargains come up rarely. This certainly was one.7

Bargain day for me - white per una jeans £3. Very pleased as my bargains are few and far between 😀8

Hospices do a wonderful job. I used to work for a hospice charity so I have visited a few of them. I don't think that is one of the places I have seen.Rosa_Damascena said:

@Cherryfudge I was mooching through that exact same basket behind the door on Tuesday!
Only purchase for me so far this week (I say so far.....) was a brand new in box jigsaw puzzle. Yorkshire Cancer Charity Shop.
Its a glorious mash up of houseplants, 1000 pieces and my goodness it is a challenge already and that was the edge pieces!
I resisted two tall vases for more upcycling (at £3 and £4 each).... and will cheekily wait to see if the price lowers and they appear in the 50p basket or if I call in on half price day.Wealth is not measured by currency5 -
Found a pair of M & S black BNWT straight legged trousers in the Martin House Hospice shop yesterday for £3. Now 1 year post Covid and still losing weight due to weird changes to my sense of taste! Now needing to buy 2 sizes smaller than usual and having to buy 'new' anything that needs to be well fitting.8

That's a great bargain. The weight loss is only good if you had it to loose... don't fall through a crack in the floorboards! My son and I both got a metallic taste after Covid: his lasted months but mine went in a couple of weeks. Strange how differently people are affected but I hope yours recovers soon.Miró said:Found a pair of M & S black BNWT straight legged trousers in the Martin House Hospice shop yesterday for £3. Earlier this week I bought a casual 100% cotton shirt for £2. The new price is £20 as far as I can tell. Shirts can be a little hit or miss as regarding quality. On occasions I have bought shirts which look like new but wear out too quickly to have been new when I got them from the charity shop. I buy most of my clothes in charity shops. I started to do it when I was struggling financially during the Credit Crunch in 2008, but I still go to charity shops even though I am now slightly better off. I rarely tell people about where I get my clothes from. I buy my clothes purely in charity shops to save money and not for the retro chic. I reckon most items are unwanted presents or impulse buys that the owner quickly loses interest in.6

Remember you are doing the environment a few favours too, @Mistral001! And, of course, the charity benefits.
