I also snagged this lovely Pyrex loaf tin for £2.99.
It doesn't look as though it's ever been used and I'm really interested in trying out the design to see if it's as helpful as I hope.5 -
5 plant pots rescued from the 50p bargain bin at the Yorkshire Cancer charity shop.
I had look at 3 of them when they were 'full price; of £1- £2 each so nice little haul for £2.50 total.
I plan on 'upcycling' 2 or 3 of them.
Then spotted a book, Sally Rooney 'Conversations with Friends' looks unread, £1 from the above as well.Wealth is not measured by currency5 -
I've had a big trying on session of the clothes I picked up the other day and decided to keep this lovely Liberty print blouse which is by MNG basics (think that's Mango but I might be wrong) and cost £4 from Barnardo's.
I'm also keeping a neutral coloured 100% cotton tank top, £1, to be worn under the Liberty blouse which is pretty see through in places. Then there are two bits from M*rks, the cotton long sleeved hot pink top £2.99 and a pair of cropped grey trousers which are almost culottes, £5, and surprisingly flattering with walking shoes. Here they all are laid out on my bed.
I'm off to central London tomorrow for brunch with DD1 and wonder if anyone has any recommendations for charity shops in Fitzrovia, googling shows several fairly near to the restaurant she's booked in Winsley St. so I'd love to know which ones to target first on my way back to Marble Arch.6 -

There is a Salvation Army behind Regent St South (close to Oxford Circus), and some on Marylebone High Street but they are not that cheap. Last time I went - and we are going back almost 3 years now! - there was a new Salvation Army building with a coffee shop on Oxford Street itself but the chazzer was closed. Coffee and cake were good though! No man is worth crawling on this earth.

Great haul, @goldfinches, especially the Liberty print!
@CAFCGirl, may we see photos when you've finished your u[cycling please? Having seen your work elsewhere I'm intrigued as to what you'll make.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

I nipped into a chazzer yesterday and came away with a phone screen protector for 50p. Of greater value to me was watching a 10yo trying every which way to negotiate with the lady managing the shop - there was no filter and no shame. She was impressive, but I recognise her audacity came from a place of poverty. Having said that what she wanted was hardly an essential. Credit to the manager for taking it with good humour and reminding the child that it's a charity after all.No man is worth crawling on this earth.

I had a good day yesterday.
A 'Lily Originals' long sleeve dress with a rainbow design on a blue-grey background £5.00 local Hospice
A 'Nomads' short sleeved jersey dress with pockets in a maroon with cream & grey pattern and a Next linen mix dress - both £3.00 each Air Ambulance
A 'Joules' long sleeved top in red with dark flowers £2.00 different Air Ambulance shop
A 'Joules' short sleeve jersey dress (probably a tunic but a dress on me) in white with pinks/greens/lilac - slightly eye-watering at £8.25 from Mind but I really liked it
An 'Oasis' sleeveless blouse in pale apricot with delicate flowers on £1.00 Save the Children. I'm hoping this will fit my sister.
A Peacocks lined linen sleeveless dress in apricot/pink/plum flowers. £4.99 BHF
A Paperchase pencil case in bright stripes. £1.00 Lighthouse. This will be perfect for my 'everything you need' little bag that usually contains: RADAR key (for disabled toilets), lip balm, hand gel, pen & small note pad, handbag hook, paracetamol etc.

You remember how I said that as I was being made redundant I wouldn't need to buy any more scarves? So having had my last day at work on the 29th we happened to go into a new barn size Barnardos. I'd been there before and not been too impressed but OH likes to look for LPs so in we trotted. 2 seconds in the place and I'm told "you need that!" A silk and cashmere pashmina in teal and burnt orange. £2. Has an eau de perfume so needs a good airing/wash but that will need to wait until we have a new clothes line.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. @Brie, I am in respectful awe at how well your husband is trained. My lads can & do reach down shapes & colours that seem familiar, but "you need that"" - no.9

Got a nice Country Casuals summer dress yesterday in the St Michael's Hospice shop in Ripon. Big pink flowers on a cream background in heavy stretch cotton fabric with cap sleeves, sweetheart neckline and a snug fitted style, B/N and priced at £5.99. Trouble came when I tried it on at home and got the zip stuck fast about 4" from the top. Just could not move the pull thingy either up nor down. (Oh the trials of living alone!!!) I was fully convinced I was going to have to sleep in the blooming' frock. There then ensued an epic half hour of Houdini-like struggling and I managed to get it off over my head thank goodness.
Today in Otley I found a B/N pair of M & S wool trousers in a dark petrol blue shade of pure wool, pleated front and turn ups for £5.99 in Oxfam, a very pretty large jug and matching plate in Hedge Rose pattern, (think it was a Boots range from yonks ago), from the 20p shop so 40p for the set. The I found a knitters handbook called Stitch'n'!!!!!!(!) with lots of lovely patterns. I seem to have rediscovered the enjoyment of knitting again after being given a huge bag of top quality yarns by a local Freecycler recently so I have been looking for patterns. (So far have made a pair of stripey socks in botany wool for me wellies and am currently knitting a Kaffe Fasset lacy scarf in variegated kid mohair and silk)11
