The coat is a very good buy!No man is worth crawling on this earth.
So much to read, so little time.3 -
@pollycat come get me next time you go shopping, there’s no bargains like that where I am! 🥲I'm unsure about my spine, I think it's holding me back.4

over the last week:
Mothercare Nanu buggy for DGS weekly stay £12 has the hood, rain cover etc.
Black Lee Cooper T-shirt £2
Black Sketchers T-shirt £2
White Karrimore PE top £2
2 blue and white medium sized Cornishware style plates one with three blue stripes, the other with two £1 rack.
A Topshop denim dress with short sleeves and big patch pockets on the skirt £6. It’s quite short so I’ll wear it as a tunic over skinny jeans, leggings or thick tights.
I've always wanted a classic leather coat, they were very popular in the late 60s, early 70s.
After my first week at work, aged 17, I put a deposit down on a green one from my wage packet.
I was earning less than £3 10 shillings.
When I got home, my Mum took my wage packet, gave me enough for bus fare for the following week and a bit of spending money.
She kept the rest and made me go into the shop and cancel the coat.
Re the denim dress/tunic - that's my look.
I'd wear with DMs or other flat boots.
Or maybe my new blue & snakeskin brogues.
I tried on a TU dress like yours yesterday but the pockets were in the side seams and didn't lay right.4 -

Even better than finding a charity shop bargain is finding a bargain and sharing it with a friend you're shopping with.5 -
Aye I know what you mean. When we moved in here, my nice next door neighbour came round to say hi. Turns out we’ve got similar dress sense and she loves a cs too. It was the best thing I’d heard since “your offer’s been accepted”!I'm unsure about my spine, I think it's holding me back.5

I had a first job at 17 too - certainly less than a fiver in my weekly pay packet but I don't recall how much less.
However I had already told my mother how much I proposed giving her for my keep and she never got her hands on my pay packet.
I suspect I actually offered more than she would have planned to take but she definitely didn't think I should have been the one to propose an amount.6 -

Especially when my best friend was an only child to not-young parents and with a grandad living with them.
There was no choice about paying board, my Mother physically took my pay packet each week.
My younger sister (4 years) paid board and my youngest sister who paid nothing at all.
I felt very hard done by.
But I was long gone by then.
I think that went some way to me leaving home aged 20.
Apologies for going off topic but maybe my history goes some way to explaining my charity shop spending.
At least it didn't manifest itself into serious spending in 'proper' shops.10 -

Strange what one's childhood does.....

@Brie I’m youngest of four. Two brothers, one sister. The age gaps are 14 years, 13 years and 10 years. My sister is the closest in age to me. Growing up at times it was like having 3 siblings, being an only child and having 5 parents. Sometimes all 3 things in the same day!The younger of my two brothers always felt like I got away with things they wouldn’t.✒️ Declutter 2025👗 Fashion on the Ration 2025 61/66 coupons (5 coupons silver boots)✒️Declutter 2024 🏅🏅🏅(DSis 🏅🏅)

I have a brother who is 7 years younger, but we are very close despite the age difference. We like the same sort of films and music. Maybe I am just immature for my age.
I have my flu jab tomorrow afternoon and I am going to look in a few charity shops beforehand.:)4
