Hence the space issue.
I'm also a make-do and mend sort of person and get a lot of creative opportunities in keeping things out of landfill. The real purpose of my charity shop visit was to see if something was there that I'd seen recently and which I had considered as fabric to repurpose a favourite cardigan. It wasn't there so that didn't happen, but the jumper I liked the look of wasn't inherently all that good, it just appealed, if you know what I mean. So it didn't come home with me.
Wish I found disposal as easy as acquisition!I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Just a heads up on Turtle Doves. (did someone mention it here to me?) Should you have a cashmere sweater you no longer need/want/wear they will exchange it for a pair of wrist warmers. A friend was decluttering and made me a gift of the wrist warmers after I complained about how cold my hands get at my new job (basically I'm working in a wind tunnel even though it looks like a church hall). The wrist warmers are bright purple, fit snugly enough for me to be able to use my computer and they are lovely, warm and soft. And cost £5. Without exchanging a jumper they are £35!!!
So if you see an old cashmere in a charity shop that's the wrong size you might want to consider this!!

I've just spent some time reading through this thread - such a treasure trove of knowledge and finds! That House of Bruar skirt is gorgeous, I have a bowler hat by them and really like their designs (although they are pricey).
My new year resolution (or one of them at least) was to stop buying new clothes, bar undies and PJs. As someone who was a charity shop novice, I've surprised myself by falling in love with them (unlikely to be news to this crowd...ahem). My most recent finds were a White Stuff jumper (a little bit of bobbling easily sorted out) and a cashmere sweater dress in pristine condition. The dress was by a brand new to me and was a little pricey for a CS at £20, but after umming and ahhing I committed. Turns out its retail is nearly £150, so I was pleasantly surprised.12 -
A hardback £1
M & s black T-shirt with slightly longer sleeves £3 looks new but no tags. It still has the quality control stickers.
And a pair of Levi’s £15 (eek) but they do fit well.8 -
I put back a pair of genuine original Falmers in the £1 Hospice Shop today as realistically I don't think I'd have been able to do them up! (No changing room.) Also they were a light beige colour which I doubt I'd wear. Someone will have a great bargain though.
I did get lucky with a padded laptop zip-around case for 50p, the perfect fit for my new MacBook if I need to take it anywhere. Could have done with it last week, had to make do with some bubble wrap. Also a National Trust PVC shopper for another 50p.Used to be Bogof_Babe. It did need updating!7 -
Bad bargain of the week - very tatty bedside cabinets were £190 reduced to £140 😱. Definitely not antiques more dark wood 1950 ish. The sort you’d find on Facebook marketplace for free and a bit of shabby chic. I think they will have to reduce them a fair bit further before they find a buyer. Same shop had very nice winter hat with fur trim £4. Now that was a bargain.7

No new finds recently but I did pop into Oxfam in Headingley today and was surprised to find they had boxes and boxes of beautiful brand new Duo boots. Various colours and sizes ,(but none in a size 6). They were all priced at £39.95 which seems a bit steep but I guess that is about a quarter of their retail price. Just wondering if any other Oxfam shops are carrying them or any other charity shops? Anyone spotted any elsewhere?5

I did pop into that new St Vincent's charity shop on London Road on Monday. It was 10 minutes before my dental appointment and I only had a £20 note on me so I didn't buy anything as I assumed they wouldn't have had enough change. I did see a couple of items that I might have bought but when I went into the Tesco Express next door to try and get some change for the £20 afterwards there were huge queues so I didn't manage to buy anything at all!4
