Never found anything satisfactory there, nor Cork. Belfast is better.Brie said:Going to Dublin next week so might have a look there!!!No man is worth crawling on this earth.
So much to read, so little time.3 -
Fabulous statues though, especially Children of Lir and the Famine Figures.Rosa_Damascena said:

And Kilmainham Gaol was haunting.

Get stocked up on chocolate while you're there @Brie (if that's your thing), it's so much nicer than here!
I agree about Kilmainhain Gaol @Pollycat, it's gotta be 10 years since I was there but if I think about it I can still smell it....."One has to free oneself from the illusion that international climate change policy is environmental policy. Instead, climate change policy is about how we redistribute de facto the world's wealth." - Ottmar Edenhofer, IPCC economist, interviewed at COP164 -
I quite often watch videos of 'Grace' (Grace Gifford) on YouTube.YoungBlueEyes said:
Wolftones, Rod Stewart (I saw him do this live in Liverpool in 2019), Anthony Kearns, Jim McCann (Dubliners).
Sorry for going off-topic.3 -
I love Ireland, but let us not pretend that it is inexpensive. I say that as someone who is used to London prices.Pollycat said:

I think you may have missed the point of my post.Rosa_Damascena said:

I wasn't 'pretending' that Dublin wasn't expensive.
I was responding to your point (in what I thought was a light-hearted way) that there was more to Dublin than charity shops.
Statues - of which there are many - are free to look at.
As well as the 2 I mentioned, there are:
hags with the bags
Phil Lynott
Oscar Wilde
Molly Malone
Three fates
Monument of light
There are other free attractions.
I've been a charity shopper for more years than I can remember - at least 40 - but charity shopping wasn't on my itinerary in Dublin.

I never miss an opportunity to find a chaz whenever I am somewhere different although its never my primary reason for travelling. That is the only thing I found disappointing about Ireland: I made the point so others wouldn't waste their time when there are plenty of better ways to spend tine there.Pollycat said:

Brie may find many bargains in the charity shops in Dublin - if she wants to spend time looking around.3 -
What people think is a bargain is very subjective, so let's not argue about it. Hopefully Brie will find something perfectly suited to her for £1, but if not, will still have a great time seeing the sights.
