OMG, that must be difficult to store. You must have good storage in your house.:)Pollycat said:
I have an Excel spreadsheet that tells me exactly where any pair is - that's how I know how many pairs I have.
Oh...the shame.

@Pollycat, that's impressive!
Having said I won't be buying as much now the car boot sales have finished till spring, I bought a necklace in Cancer Research, Whitby today for £2.95.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Stocking shops starts tomorrow. I'm on day 4 of decluttering my mom's sprawling farm house but can't take anything anywhere today as it's Thanksgiving and the shops are closed.
I have today unearthed yet another fur (blonde mink stole I remember mom getting when I was maybe 8) to go with the black mink long sleeveless "vest" (gilet to you) and black mink coat as well as my (shamefully) wolf coat. Also 5 liberty ties of my dad's (prob gifts from me) as well as all sorts of retro clothing going back to the 60s for both parents. Nasty stuff will be binned. Good but dull will go to what we call The Sally Ann (salvation army run chazzer recycling centre) and nice stuff will be gifted to interested nieces and nephews or sold to a couple of local vintage shops.
There are some family tussles going on if course...Bro1 claimed to have found valuable antique ivory boxes which I say are dyralin "ivory" (aka cellulose) so nearly worthless. I've got to get them to commit to one of us going thru stuff and the others being happy with what happens. Bro2 wants a second check on everything which makes my job over the next 10 days impossible.
And what I'm struggling with is that no one wants my grandmother's Limoges china. 20 place settings with all the extras. I doubt we will be able to sell it anywhere as, of course, it can't be put in a dishwasher. I'd take it happily (OH would love it) but how to get it safely, cheaply to the UK from Canada. The silverware will go in my suitcase....I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. So much to read, so little time.4 -
What will you do with the furs if I may ask? I have been trying to get rid of an inherited racoon coat for years. I don't just want to bin it. The poor animals are dead now so I would prefer it to be re-purposed somehow, ethically if that is possible, but I cannot find any takers.Brie said:Stocking shops starts tomorrow. We gave a fur coat to the drama department of a local college but that was a few years back. It was welcomed for period drama. These days they/the students might not want to be associated.6

The animal has (sadly) died.6 -
Could you repurpose the furs into a lining , for example , for a throw or a coat? Actually real fur nowadays might well pass as fake fur- the fake stuff is so realistic.4

Actually I’m a bit squeamish about wearing or even touching it myself nowretiredinfrance said:Could you repurpose the furs into a lining , for example , for a throw or a coat? Actually real fur nowadays might well pass as fake fur- the fake stuff is so realistic.
. I just want someone to take it off my hands!! Tried offering it to the wardrobe depts of our local theatres and to animal rescue centres, (was told they use real fur for comforting young orphaned animals) but no takers so I keep taking it out of the wardrobe, checking it over, sighing and shoving it back again……12 years of this routine now

I'm with you on the squeamish front but they seem to sell quite well on eBay - would it be worth selling on there and donating the proceeds to an animal charity?Miró said:
