No Spend January 2022

I wondered if anyone wants to join me for a no spend January! It can mean whatever you need it to mean but for me I'm going to cut all unnecessary spending but I will spend on bills, groceries (within limits see below) what kids need for school, medicine and other essentials.
I also have very full cupboards and freezer so will also be deciding what I can use up first before going to the shop.
Can't wait to start as my spending, as usual, has got out of control in December.
There is nothing like a money diet to turn that tap off!
Xx

Hi @Frugalistamama, I'd like to join you for a no spend January. I've bought too many things this year that don't seem to be quite right, and I haven't found the time to send them back. I'm fading under dealing with all of the deliveries, and delivery packaging, I need a break from shopping!
Much as I'd like to go full on frugal, I will need to have some exceptions.
I shop for my elderly parents as they're pretty much housebound at the moment, so anything for them isn't included. I'll include charity donations in this, so I'll try and still give to the foodbank and other charities as things arise.
I'll need some milk and bread and a bit of other fresh stuff - I'll buy this with a box of loose change I've got, although I don't know how much is in there. This will have to be in-person shopping rather than online and I'll try to limit this to once a week.
All other bills and transport costs will go out of my account as usual. I will spend January going through these to make sure everything's up-to-date and best value.
Thanks for starting the thread.

Yay fantastic @makingmehappy this also sounds like me, I am fed up with deliveries, returns and trying to get rid of cardboard.
Also charities are a good thought. I like to give to the foodback and will continue to do this as well. I will also donate the my children's school as and when they are fundraising.
I've got a usual budget of about £80 per week for food for a family of four. Any savings I make this month will go to the holiday fund.... Whenever that happens!Grocery challenge:

Hi
I’d like to join too please. It won’t be for the full month because in theory we’re going on a cruise on the 26th, not much hope of it going ahead I don’t think, but it’s paid for and will just move again if necessary.
The freezer and cupboard are full and I’ve enough sweet stuff to keep us going until Easter 😂
So I may need bread, milk and veg and tram fares if the weather is bad. I don’t want my stores getting too low though because that’s when we succumb to takeaways.
I’m aiming for one online shop of approx £50 during the month. I’ve no birthday presents, just cards in January. I got vouchers for Xmas but haven’t found anything to spend them on yet so they will keep unless a very very good price comes up for something I need and then no more than a couple of pounds top up if necessary.
Covid allowing we need to go to visit my sister in January so that will mean fuel money, but as things are I can’t see that happening.
Happy frugalling for January and the year ahead 🥳

I would like to join too, please. I have spent too much during 2021. Some of it was unavoidable, such as a huge vets bill when my dog injured his back, an expensive car repair etc, but I definitely bought too much 'stuff'. I have one birthday present to buy during January (there are two other birthdays requiring presents, but I have already bought those), and other than that, I intend to keep costs down. I have lots of food in, so will only need to buy some fresh stuff and a few ingredients. Here's hoping for no further expensive vet or garage stuff!

I’d like to join in. I aim to buy as little as possible in 2022 and this will be a good start. I need to buy food but will just buy enough to supplement what we already have in.7

Hi! I’ll try. I know I emotionally spend and I have had poor mental health but I can’t get the help to get out of the habit. It will be super tough for me as I’m so unhappy but money problems and again not getting the advice I need this is the best way forward. Well done on you doing so well so far

I would like to join you please.
I have one event planned in Jan, but other than that, I have no real need to spend any money.
I am trying to reduce the amount of staff I have in my house too, so may actually end up with more money at the end of Janruary than at the beginning
