Day !8 and first food shop this month and spent just under £25 ,mainly fruit, veg and some things I was running low on.Fridge is full and veg racks as well.I have bananas, oranges ,applesgrapes and a huge honeydew melon so plenty of fruit. Plus a box of blackberries in the freezer ,picked last autumn. No more food shopping now until the end of the month.Veg I got was broccoli ,spuds celery, tomatoes, peppers, leeks and some onions so plenty for home made soups Only thing I forgot was carrots but I am pretty sure I have a bag in the freezer that I peeled and froze before Christmas. Managed to snaffle half a dozen tins of Heinz baked beans as well that the lass was just putting out on the shelf as they were dented and at 20p a pop I thought they are a bargain. I'm not eating the tins ,only what's inside She said a tray had fallen in the warehouse and these were the dented ones .The dates are June 2023 so they had only just been delivered and Heinz normally are around a pound a tin :):):) Nice for lunch or as a side with dinner of bangers and mash

Got a 6 cardboard case of UHT milk as I only use that and its great if the weather is bad and I can't get out. Happy with my shopping ,but golly the prices are shooting up aren't they.I don't buy tinned soup as I make my own but eventesco basic stuff has gone up fro 25p to 39p a tin since bfore Christmas as my neighbour askedme to get a couple in December as she wasn't feeling well and only wanted some basic chicken soup . I think food prices seem to be going through the roof !!
  • 12 NSDs here so far. Spends have only been in food/groceries and new skirting boards which we managed to buy from the grocery budget as I’ve reined it in tight.  Excess food budget has gone towards a credit card that will be cleared next week and an OP on the mortgage.

Have friends coming for a games night at the weekend, normally we do a cheese/cold meats type platter but I’m sticking to some crudités and home made dips and a couple of bowls of popcorn (got 2 bags of kernels sitting in the larder from 2 years ago)everyone is trying to be a bit more healthy so that will do nicely.  Everyone brings their own drinks so there’s no major cost to whoever is hosting, which is a godsend.
  • Hi all
I've managed 7 NSDs this month so far.  I set a tight budget for food which i'm still within but 11 days to go!  Has included some food for DD2 when i took her back to uni.  Did treat myself to theatre tickets for March, something i've wanted to see for years and ticket was less than £20.  Will have to spend today as i've nearly run out of milk; got to go into work but have half a tank of petrol which i'm hoping will last me till Feb.
Jellytotts - your games night sounds fun!

  • Can I join please, 18 for the month, a bit late I know but have already racked up 10 NSD.  My problem is being subtle about using stocks as my partner is high functioning aspergers and disabled so likes things just so and isn't very good at adapting what he cooks.  He tries to cook in the week as he is home all day and I work.  We do try to menu plan a week at a time and I try to only shop once a week normally L**l and a once a month shop in A**a for specific things we can only get in a larger supermarket.

    Hi, how's everyone doing?

I've had 17 NSDs and will probably manage 2 more. I've done a little bit of top-up shopping in local shops and I've got an online delivery tomorrow with next months stock-up, so I'll update with final figures then. On the downside, I've spent £13.97 on net flix and a couple of films on prime which I didn't really need, and I haven't given anything to charity, because I usually donate through my weekly online shop. I have enjoyed using up things, and not having to deal with waiting for deliveries and dealing with the packaging so it's been worth it for a simpler life.

I’m doing well. My only unexpected expenditure was an annual subscription for an online Pilates group, for some reason I thought it was due in February. I’m still only buying necessities at the supermarket and only if I haven’t got anything that I can substitute.

I’m aiming to stock up a little at the beginning of Feb but otherwise will try and use up all the packets, tins and jars that seemed a good idea at the time
