£50 spent today 🙈 we needed a few bits that I didn't realise were low - fabric conditioner, kitchen roll, ice creams for the grandbaby, tea lights plus dh wanted a couple of things for work - coffee, sweetners and a few tins of mackeral and noodles for emergency lunches so it did not go according to plan but won't need anything else this week 😉

Hello all,
We're eating from the cupboards, fridge and freezer today as there are only the two of us for all meals.
Breakfast was corn thins with guacamole for me, the HT (my son) had croissants. Lunch was a cheese and bacon toastie for him, I had a bacon and egg toastie and dinner will be spag bol (with an extra sneaky handful of lentils) for both of us. There will be four portions of bolognese sauce left over so I'll freeze two and make the other two portions into chilli which I will then also freeze.
Supper is cheese and cracker from christmas leftovers. Tomorrow will be my first grocery shop of the month.9 -
First actual food spend of the year today, as I went to Lid!.
£10.41 to come out of my budget - but 90p of that will be squirrelled away for other uses (discounts from using their app).
Still need to work out the value of things I've opened from my personal stockpile in the last 3 days, and deduct that from my budget / add it to my squirrel away money.

£40.20 spent at L!dls today on butter, coffee, halloumi, loo roll & washing supplies to see us through the month. I'll need to buy some bananas in the next couple of days but we're OK for just about everything else. When it comes to bread, I've managed to keep the baker's kind gift of sourdough starter going, and rolls or small loaves of one sort or another are being produced daily. I don't know how long I can keep it up but we're all enjoying them! If I were doing this for the foreseeable future, as opposed to as an experiment whilst the baker's away, I'd obviously keep it to just a couple of days a week & batch-bake, to cut down on the oven use. But at present I'm experimenting to see a) what I can do, and b) what the family actually enjoy. Tomorrow's "use up the spare starter" will be chocolate breadsticks... today's was a tiny fruit loaf, which took forever to rise but is actually quite acceptable.Angie - GC Aug25: £207.73/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)9

Hello all!
Sorry I'm late in joining, took a little while to set up my account on here.
This month will be slightly tricker to budget for than normal; I'm not sure how long I'll be WFH for, I have more food in the freezer than normal, I'm trying to eat more healthily, and I'm not entirely sure what I've been spending recently. With that in mind, my focus for January is to keep track of my grocery spending, to the penny, but still aim to stay under £200. This is for one lazy adult, and includes non-food groceries, excluding toiletries.
Thanks for all your contributions so far, plenty of advice to help others out9 -
Hi
Could I please join. As a few others have already said, I used to follow this thread religiously but it fell by the wayside. I have got a few debts that I would like to see the back of and so hoping this will help and become a lifestyle change rather than a chore. We are a family of four with 2 dogs. This will include all food, dog supplies and cleaning but not takeaways or eating out. Still got tonnes of Christmas treats left so hoping to save a bit this month. My aim is to stay under £400 . Thanks to all
