Hi folks,
Please can I join in, I’ve noticed the shopping bill creeping upwards and would like to get it down. Most of the time it’s just the two of us, so budget for January is £320, to include food, toiletries and cleaning products. Pet food isn’t included, it comes out of a different budget.Well Behaved women seldom make history

Thank you elsiepac for doing this thread. As I've said before it really does help keep us accountable, even if we blow the budget.January 2022! Hoping for everyone it is a better year all around.
Our January budget is going to be £250.
The month goes 1st to the 31st.This is for two adults, my OH and I, and a chinchilla. Includes all food and drink (except alcohol), cleaning products, toiletries etc and all chinchilla items (food, hay, sand, treats etc.). Really hoping to come in budget or even better lower.
£0/£250.
£250 left.I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy7 -
Would love to join if that’s ok. Will look at setting a realistic budget. 5 of us plus a dog and cat to include. I shop online mostly and hate cooking so it makes it difficult but I’m trying8

Hi everyone and happy new year!Does anyone have experience having made soup or something other with frozen veg like carrots or whatever?I’ve bought them in the past as an easy grab for my daughter but seems she’s just not that keen and they also have the smoothest texture which I find really odd too! They’re now otherwise just taking up space so would like to use them up.Other ideas welcome- I know I should just eat them!Follow here for the daily life of an ADHD mum with 2 children and a new mortgage to pay

@MissRikkiC - I've made soup with frozen veg before 😉 just make sure you use plenty of herbs/seasoning or it can be a bit bland!
You can also put them in casseroles - veg tends to turn a bit mushy in those anyway so you can't really tell the difference imo!DNF: £708.92/£1000

Happy New Year and new budgets to everyone and thanks to @elsiepac for this thread.
I'm feeling very overloaded with stores from last year as well as the Christmas leftovers and over buys so have decided to try to have a "use it up" January. To that end I'm going to set my usual budget but try to spend far less than that on fresh stuff and dairy bits, I'm not sure I can stick to it but am aiming to keep out of the shops to reduce temptation. Please could you make my budget £124 for the calendar month for 1 person to cover food and household items as well as a Baking budget of £5 per week, thanks a lot.
I've got an awful lot of ingredients for baking squirreled away in my larder as well as the freezer so I'm going to try and use those up before purchasing anything extra. Famous last words eh! Onwards and upwards!10 -
A few things needed that came to £13.99 so total spend for January so far (and it's only day one) is:
£64.27/£200
leaving £135.73 still very doable me thinks.*Stop giving up what you really want for what you want now*
*Face your fear, don't do what's easy, do what is right, fight for it because it will be worth it*

Any lactose within 24 hours of a long exercise session (mainly a run) at high heart rate causes me to sounds asthmatic - that was how mine materialised in the first place, and was misdiagnosed firstly as a chest infection, then as exercise induced asthma, and then as an early sign of heart failureBut other than that I can eat most things - the exceptions being hot butter which is my biggest and fastest stomach trigger (even a scraping on a slice of garlic bread), and to a lesser extent hot milk sauces/puddings (so I make from scratch with plant milks). But I can eat as much all butter shortbread as I like with no reaction at all, so cold butter isn't a problem !!! I stick to non-dairy spreads for everything apart from making shortbread.esjw said:Think the local cows are either in isolation or taking time off for NY - it can't be people stripping the shelves in my local shops yesterday because they're closed for 24hrs right? 🤔 Ended up going further afield today to get milk and a few other fresh bits.
