First online shop of the Jan year. total spend of £58.10/£250.
Spending 16.70 0n essentials
There were several offers online which we normally use so bulked up to the tune of 41.40. The saving was 26.85 on these items. (our favourite instant coffee was the main one - we should have enough of this coffee to last about six months)8 -
Good Morning, can I join please?£350 running 25th to 24th.
Currently have £330 left.Going to get some snacks for tonight later but not doing a shop until Sunday. Should only be a small one too.8 -
I'm already "into" my January budget with a spend of £83.25, split neatly between the butchers, the bakers and those purveyors of fine candlesticks etc., W8rose! Spent more at the bakery than usual (£13-odd) as they're off on holiday now for the best part of 3 weeks, so I bought some extra for the freezer. But bless them, they've given me a pot of sourdough starter to "keep us going" as best we can over the gap! It won't be nearly as good as their bread, but I'll do my best; luckily I still have plenty of flour. Shouldn't need too much for the next week, as the meal-plan's sorted & everything's here, but I expect bananas & sliced bread for OH will need updating at some point. Otherwise we're still eating stuff up.
One of my resolutions for the New Year is to regain tight control of the grocery budget so that the massive increase in fuel bills won't hit us too hard. Our "fix" ends at the end of January & with 5 people (two of them WFH in office-y jobs requiring jackets, shirts & ties rather than woolly jumpers, bobble hat & a duvet) in an old & leaky house, it's going to be painful. Oddly they seem to think thermal underwear is a step too far! So - every penny's a prisoner, within reason.

I ventured to home bargains this morning and spent £15.45 on cleaning stuff, nuts, bird food, dishwasher salt/tabs etc. Just popped into the co-op this aft for milk and bread to see us through to Aldi shop on Tuesday; £5 spent! That did include a treat ice lolly for my son who was really brave at the opticians this morning when they had to put in some eye drops that stung. He needs glasses, luckily free at his age, sadly mine won’t be next week ☹️SPC #023 SPC 12: £125.86[/COLOUR]:SPC 13: £214.98: SPC 14: £297.41 SPC 15: £237.27 SPC 16 £335.39; SPC 17 £662.09 SPC 18 £20MFW #21 Mortgage start Dec 2015 £79,950; June 2025 £19,394.00 2025 OP £1589/COLOR]/£2,000 MFiT T6 #3 £19070/£25,500 (72.82%%) MFiT T7 #3 £2050/£21,930 (9.34%)9

@thriftwizard - your comment about thermal underwear being a step too far made me guffaw! Might that be because they think of it as being Dam*rt and rather outdated? If so, point them in the direction of Un*qlo, very trendy thermals in a huge variety of styles or M*rks, bit more spendy but also v. fetching nowadays. P.S. Don't bother with Pr*mark thermals, they aren't warm enough.
Also, I've had this recipe for sourdough starter discard sitting in my to be made queue for ages and haven't got round to it yet, I'm putting a link here for you in case you can use it. Easy Sourdough Discard Crackers Recipe (food52.com)

My month will be a calendar month and my budget will be £260 to include food, toiletries, cleaning, cat food and bulk buts. Thank you!
I’d like to set this up in my signature but when I try it’s saying I can’t, and I can’t find a reason why. Is that to do with being a n00b?
From Profile (top right of my screen) I choose edit profile
then choose signature settings from the bar menu on the left, edit the content and then save
You will get permission soon. Try again in a week or two. ( I can’t remember if it’s based on timespan or a minimum number of posts.)
I just wanted to say that I love your screen-name, @EskarinaWeatherwax. Two of my favourite Pratchett characters.
