do you know if EDF email monthly statements like Zog used to?

They never used to, when I was with them a few years back.....I would hope they now have a monthly option but I'm not holding my breath.

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple :D

If you pay via a fixed monthly DD (what EDF refer to as Budget Direct Debit), then as I said, they issue the bills every 6 months.

If you want monthly billing, you need to opt for paying on receipt of bill, which can include variable monthly DD (what EDF refer to as Direct Debit Whole Amount)
  • I have given in. Life is just too short to deal with a supplier that has IT systems that just do not work; CS that is almost impossible to get hold of etc. A call to Octopus was answered within 15 seconds and my gas supply with transfer back to them on the 29th January (apparently the Government has imposed a 28 day rule on switching).

The only good news story of the day is that, according to Utility Week, Ofgem has quietly dropped its consultation on auto-switching of stubborn SVT diehards. It was a barmy suggestion when Ofgem first came up with it.

That’s interesting - I requested my switch to Octopus on the 28th December and the progress bar in my account says I’m due to be on supply on the 12th Jan.

Slight confusion at my end (and at Octopus) but in my defence I was having another tortuous day with EDF. Chatting with 30 minute delays between responses is not a good way of getting things sorted out. The final straws were when EDF said that their system wouldn't accept a manual reading (from a smart meter) for DD purposes as they didn't know my usage. I pointed out that they have access to my smart meter data and the date when the meter was installed. As it so happens the meter was installed a year and week after EDF took over my supply, so simply converting the meter index reading to kWhs would give a pretty accurate annual usage figure! Their offer of monthly DD payments and 6 monthly  billing didn't help.

My revised on supply date with Octopus will be the 14th January.
  • Received an update from EDF by email today, 31st. Most of it covered old ground, about ‘Woohoo I’m switched’ and setting up a direct debit

The only new thing was as per the extract below, which is still a bit vague.

EDF continue to work with Zog Energy and their administrators. You’ll get a final bill from Zog Energy – it’ll be sent by email, or post, depending on how you received your bills. Any outstanding balance will show in your EDF account, so you won’t be out of pocket.

Yep, I got the same email, however it said I hadn't setup a DD yet.. which I have and have confirmed by logging in to edf and re-checking :)

Yes, no actual estimated date we can expect the credit/final zog bill mentioned.

Same here too, said I wasn’t set up for DD but I am and on-line shows it. Just guess it’s a generic email due to most people not probably having set up a DD yet.
  • Same. I requested a DD to go out on the 4th, that EDF said was fine. However, for whatever reason, it said the FIRST one wouldn't go out until the 14th.

So, a watching brief really. I'm in the same position with Neon Reef/British Gas. Que sera, sera.
