Not had a bill here, just confirmation of DD setup and dates they will take.
After pressing for 2 hours yesterday, EDF has finally confirmed that my switch is complete. Sadly, its system will not accept a manual reading to set up a DD plan (why one is needed with a smart meter beggars belief). I have even provided them with a year of actual gas usage based on a new SMETS2 installation date of the 8th December last year which EDF is also refusing to accept. The reading on the 8th December this year was 00705 showing total usage of 705M3s or c.8000kWhs/year.

My switch to Octopus seems to be going smoothly - EDF haven't objected. I'm not going to set up a DD with EDF - there should only be one low bill to pay for my time with them and I'm happy for them to take as long as they like. It will be comforting to be back with Octopus for both fuels and where my Secure Liberty smart meters work.

Just noticed that the gas meter serial number that EDF have in my account belongs to one which was replaced by a smart meter in July 2019!
Ring EDF rather than do a live chat & see if you can speak to someone in the UK rather than off shore.  Tell them the situation & that they have been sent the wrong info. They will probably ask for a photo of the meter & raise the appropriate form to get it updated. Check your final Zog bill to see what’s on there as well. Easily updated but might take a bit of time.
EDF have told me that the national database has my old meter details for gas and that's why they had added my old meter to my account. This is odd because I had no problem with switching to Octopus and then Zog - they both used the new meter details.

Anyway, I've sent them a photo of the new meter and they are going to update it.
  • setup the direct debit online yesterday - as others have stated, fixed monthly amount was the only option...received an email this morning that it is now complete.
when speaking on the live chat asking about paying the whole amount online by dd, was advised to let the first monthly payment go through (18th) and then contact them to change it.
before setting up the DD, i'm sure the site says my first bill would be generated on the 11th, but I can't find that on the EDF site now.

Double check the MPRN on your Octopus & Zog bills with the MPRN EDF are using to make sure they are the same. Sometimes a new MPRN gets created when a meter gets exchanged rather than just updating the old one with the new meter so could be 2 records on database. I would expect EDF to have noticed this if they have done a search on your address but maybe not if they’ve just searched on the MPAN.

Thanks, that's worth checking. The MPRN isn't available in my account yet because it's still at stage 3 (switch almost complete) but I'll check it when it appears.

Within your EDF online account, you need to go to Billing & Payments, and at the bottom, it will say if there is a new bill due to be produced soon.

Perhaps it has now been removed from your account as you have now set up a payment via fixed monthly DD. I think EDF only produce a bill once every 6 months when you have done that.

thanks for that - nothing there about this now, so as you say it's been removed cos of the DD being setup.
do you know if EDF email monthly statements like Zog used to?

I asked if I could rejoin them on Flexible Octopus and they agreed, possibly because I’m an existing customer.
