Sorry to hear about your daughter having Covid when you should have been having a lovely time together.
Enjoying the storage conversation. As you know, decluttering was my project after watching Sort your life out. I defo want things behind a door, also mainly because I don't like dusting. Need to check out your book.Debt Jan 2017 = £42kMay 2022 = £15k5 -
Another one who likes things behind cupboard doors and in drawers, not always easy with the kids toys though!
Hope you and DD are okay, sounds like you've had a productive day x5 -
Sorry to hear about the positive LFT. My DD tested positive on her return home from uni on the 19th. Much to the other children’s annoyance, I kept windows open to allow a through flow of air so although we were 🥶, we have been able to avoid Covid thus far. I also kept anti bac wipes in key areas and made sure that DD kept to using one toilet and the rest of us used the other. The other children have avoided it, just DD’s bf that caught it ☹️.
The storage discussion is fascinating. I tend to have piles of things around, but neat cupboards!paydbx2025 #26 £890/£5000 . Mortgage start £148k June 23 - now £138k.

Waves at everyone. Thanks for the well wishes.
Storage... I was brought up with 'glory holes' i.e. we would run around when someone was coming over and shove everything out of sight. It's hard to know what is learned rather than innate. I have way too much stuff. Glory hole tidying - in my life includes shoving things in a crate or box or bag and chucking it in the garage or whatever. We once found passports in a bin bag in the garage!! Listening to her - and even watching my sis clean up recently - I realised - we didn't really have designated places for stuff when I was a kid or as an adult. I have too few 'designated' places for things e.g. batteries, tools, anything really. I can't put something back in its place as it probably doesn't have one yet. It reassured me that my thought of having labelled shelves in the garage was on the right track, although it hasn't materialised yet...
My kitchen is one of the few places where things go in specific places - helped by me and DD going through it a couple of years ago. I still need to strip out loads though - especially now we've reduced the house occupation numbers. Once this isolation period is over - I will let go of more kitchen stuff. I have a drawer for spices. A drawer for keys. 2 drawers for cutlery. 1 glory hole drawer with a plastic organiser in my kitchen. I have a medicine cabinet but it's too small and I need something bigger. DD has a basket for her overflowing bathroom products - I have a bag...
My art stuff is reasonably organised. Most of it fits in a 3 deep plastic drawer set and a huge crate!! Except my canvases... I also have 2 x 10 slim drawer set for my craft stuff. However - it doesn't all fit in those... My journals have a designated place. I need to create a dedicated basket for my WFH stuff too. A few years ago I used a k@ll@x unit in my airing cupboard and labelled each slot. We don't necessarily 'obey' the label but it did improve things... I also got rid of at least half of what was previously stuffed in there. I need to have another sort.
I did introduce see through plastic wallets a year or two ago for many of my papers - including special mementos for the kids. I also have a few memory boxes.
What I found interesting was even making that list above - I'm not as 'bad' as I think I am. I think my biggest problem is I still need to find homes for a lot of stuff - and let go of a lot. Only then can I make progress. One of my biggest problems - she therefore thinks I'm a 'bee' in her 4 styles - is that I can see a use for everything and therefore struggle to release stuff.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

I'm a naturally untidy person. I only discovered a few years ago that I like things in cupboards and drawers to be organised when my mum opened a cupboard in my kitchen and commented "Oh she hides her tidiness in her cupboards." I thought that was extremely funny (and true). I have tried really hard over the past few months to keep on top of the clutter and for the most part I'm doing ok. I have to admit to shoving the paperwork to be shredded into a bag until I have some time.
Sorry to hear about DD testing positive with her lft. Hopefully it all doesn't come to much for her or for you.Mortgage at 12/07/2022 = £175,000

I did some painting to destress and get over my panic. It helped. I now have a third load of washing in - but I'm going to have to pause the dryer as I'm off to bed!

I hope DD is ok and you manage to avoid it. Remember ventilation will have a massive impact on the amount of virus in the air, so try and air the rooms regularly or leave a window slightly open if you can cope.

Thanks Jwil and left. It's going to be a while I imagine before we hear anything back.
I put together some boxes labelled donate (for fragile items), Specialist tip (for things not allowed in bins) and I'm going to do another one for 'stuff to sell'. I've got a 'tool' basket on the go and a small box for 'garage' stuff. I already have a big bag for decorating stuff... Making slow progress - while watching / listening to utubes on letting stuff go!!
I'm not at all in the mood to work tomorrow. It would have been a struggle anyway but with DD being ill - I can't focus. Will see what the test results bring. So far I feel fine. She doesn't feel great but doesn't seem as bad as I've heard some being...
I've realised I struggle to get rid of things I created - but I need to. Apparently Picass0 made thousands of pieces of art - but curated them - so the public only saw his best work. The thought makes me feel better...Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
