Reset your savings goal downwards, take the pressure off yourself. Next year try again and maybe add a little more to make it up. In this life you've great things to show for your money.

Thanks BM, MF, Beanie, Blackcats and Merlin
Sorry to hear about your pan issues BM. I'd have been tempted to eat the food too!
As to the savings - you are all right - I tend to get a bit fixated and also try to do too many things with the same pot of £. Originally part of my savings was intended to be towards home and garden maintenance - so I shouldn't be putting so much pressure on myself - given that I am currently cashflowing that too.
Beanie - you are right too - I've come a lot further in a year than I expected.
MF the reading she directed to was more helpful related to a diagnosis that I gave myself decades ago - that the Psych guy confirmed the other day. As WD said - it's a labelling system to help you access related help rather than to hold you back...
I ordered a dress yesterday in the sale and it's come already. A bottle green leopard print type cocoon dress with three quarter sleeves. I bought a red version a few weeks ago and liked it so thought why not at £19.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

If you set your savings goals but are now saving additional amounts elsewhere, outside the areas that the goals applied to, then the bigger question is overall is the same amount getting saved? If so, then assuming that was a budgeted amount then that's all good isn't it. Ans if not - again, if a budgeted amount, it might be worth deciding if the budget is right, or if frittering is creeping in. I know I have to reset myself like that from time to time!

Thanks EH I think the answer is both. My savings targets are too aggressive and I am also spending more than planned. Clothes. News pans because they broke. Spare laptop cable etc. All justifiable but still more than planned.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
