I've had my payslip and updated my spreadsheet with anticipated energy costs and I am a lot happier - especially as AVCs didn't get taken again this month which will help my cashflow. My targets for this coming pay month are:
- Be ready to 'give' sis £2K if asked and be graceful about it
- Delay payment to 0% spends CC in preference to withdrawing savings
- Try to limit savings withdrawal to one or two pots (out of five) to minimise interest loss
- Reduce planned savings to minimise cashflow impacts
- Keep spends low overall while allowing £ for handyman and pond restoration
- Continue to try and bring in more £ from selling stuff on FB to offset handyman spends
- Make sure get multiple quotes for car insurance to maximise best deal
I am having a bit of a break from work now but am planning to do some work tonight. I've had a lot of interruptions today and need to get something done so would prefer to blitz it after others have logged off!
Hope you are having an okay day/week.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Thanks Beanie. I'm planning to just wait until she mentions it - for now at least.
I have a new problem - my washing machine is refusing to drain. I've let the water out twice using the small opening bottom right - - felt around it - nothing really there that I can see - but it hasn't resolved the problem. The code apparently means that the pump has failed or the pump is obstructed but that doesn't really mean anything to me... Do I need to get someone in to look at it - it's only about 2 years old - or is there something else I can do?
Of course - this happened with my bedding - and I think I only have one set so really irritating.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Have a look on YT for the make / model, usually it's a full filter that stops them draining. Unscrew, remove, pull all the bits out and refit it.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.4

I may see if my cleaner can see anything MF - as it is difficult for me to get down there - she's a slim bean. I pulled out what I thought was the filter though and there wasn't much on it. If she has no joy - I will call someone out. I looked on YT - and they did describe a 'simple' fix - but it included turning the washer on its side - ordering some very small parts etc... I can call the same people as did my FF and hope for the best... although that means that's another £60 gone that's not really in my budget - more if it needs parts. Thankfully I have an EF/Savings still - I just don't like using them.
DD has repaid the holiday £ but I'm keeping it in my account for now rather than immediately paying off CC.
Randomly work has paid me a day early!!! Nice but weird.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

I just looked to see what my WM is selling for now - 25% higher than in 2020!! Even if it needs a new pump - it looks like you can get them for £52. So hopefully shouldn't cost the earth to fix. Will try and tie them down price wise before they come out. It does look a relatively simple swap of parts - but...Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

My cleaner seems to have unblocked the pump. 2 elastic hair ties had got caught and stopped it turning.
Phew...
My cleaner is taking some surplus casserole dishes and food from extras found in garage and kitchen and leftover items from Ex and DS moving out. Mistake purchases too... She's made up.
