Happy Friday Potters! I hope you've all enjoyed a smashing week, with at least a couple of beautiful days. We took our very dear friends to Portland for the day yesterday, they had such fond memories as she was born and raised there. We had a really great time! Enjoy a lovely weekend, all of next week too folks!!! It's been quite a lovely week weather wise.
For all those who are poorly, have Covid, or are down in any way, take great care and get well soon. Best wishes from us all.  <3

Another good day of potting, Ant, making it so far a really good week for you! Keep potting if you're able!

Hi Hetty, lovely to see you.
Good potting where you're able, well done!
I'm so pleased Alex's behavior is so much better these days, I remember you saying it was much improved some while ago, an excellent reflection on your love and care! 😍
It's great that you're pushing yourself that much more as it'll clearly help you both so much. 🙂
No doubt news of it being a bleaker Christmas is getting around the school, so doubtless it'll soon hit home that it'll be happening to them all and not them as individuals.
I do so hope he's benefitting with the RRT (never heard of it either) and you'll get good news soon!
All the very best with your eyes, and let's hope the new specs are very helpful.
Brilliant news with your allotment produce, keep it up Hetty as we're certainly going to need to help ourselves as much as we can!
All the very best to you both!!

Very well said re Alex, Ant, no doubt all kids do really, it's been going on for too long for them not to! Certainly not worth debts because of it for sure!
    A little and often... excellent!!

So, yet another great potter today, mummytummy!!! An excellent job. Good for you with the scratch card, especially as it was a free one!! 😍

£15 transferred to the SPC account! Well chuffed with that.

    Where are you little_sweetie??!

Enjoy BRILLIANT WEEKEND  SPCrs, but beware, of Covid AFTER FOOTBALL and GAMES!!  s

    Sue xx

    Evening all

Hope all are well, love to those who aren't and condolences to those who have recently lost loved ones xx

BREAKING NEWS: I've got Covid  :cold_sweat:  I started feeling ill towards the end of last week - typical, as I've been on leave this week.  Went to my GP on Thursday, because naturally I was concerned it was my AF playing up and my HR seemed to be consistently under 60 which the NHS website says should be checked out, but she said everything was fine.  I even did a Covid test, which was negative.  Then as Friday wore on I started feeling woozy so 111 sent me to A&E (I said I had a stiff neck so the GP was checking for heart attack even though I told her and everyone else it was as a result of bad posture in front of our desktop PC), who couldn't find anything untoward so sent me to the GP centre elsewhere on the hospital site, and after a thorough exam they concluded it was some sort of virus.  We went out for tea with friends on Saturday, and did our supermarket shop on Sunday.  Then on Monday DH was complaining that he couldn't stop coughing but, as an ex-smoker, this is something that comes and goes.  On Tuesday he got sent home from work so on Wednesday morning we did Covid tests and his came back positive.  So I cancelled all my plans for the rest of the week - on the Weds I was meant to be helping my mum take my brother's stuff from her flat to his new house as he was moving in, but she's also going on holiday on Monday so didn't want to jeopardise that.  I was still negative yesterday but haven't been sleeping well - or rather, been sleeping OK for about 3 hours then waking up and finding it impossible to get to sleep again.  Last night was pretty much the same, although I started with the chills when I got into bed, and so of course this morning I was also positive.  As I was meant to have been working overtime last Saturday, my manager said if I was ill this week then I could cancel my leave and book it down as sick leave, which was lovely of her.  We've had a busy few months at work, my last time off was Spring Bank so I did think I was ready for the break and in fact I'm only working a handful of days this month.

I had various plans this week, not just going out and having fun, but none of that will be happening at the moment.  I can cope with feeling ill, it's the lack of sleep I can't stand.  I do love my sleep!

Anyway....  I've got a couple of £2 coins to pot, my Plum pot is building nicely and is £552.50, my other savings pots have taken a hit because of the dog's surgery which wasn't covered by insurance (shocked face) but they're still ticking over nicely.

    Stay well all x

  • I wondered why my ears were burning...I'm here Sue! G and I have both been feeling under the weather as well as our PC playing up and needing a repair so  I'm really out of touch with all the news.  The heat didn't help either and it looks like we have more to come 😳 Hope you and T are well.  I've been potting bits and pieces still and have realised that G has been secretly adding coppers my tin.  I wondered why it was quite heavy 😆
So sorry to hear MrsShazbat is poorly.  Get well soon.
I'll try to catch up on posts ASAP.

Oh dear @MrsShazbat , Covid seems to be very common at the moment. A lot of people I know have been getting it, sometimes quite a nasty dose. All being well you are on the road to recovery now?
Nice to hear from @little_sweetie , sorry to hear you’ve been having your own troubles too. Good news that you’re still doing some potting though.
You might have forgotten to post on this challenge for a while @BlueJ94 but I read somewhere that you’re very close to being debt free so well done there.
I got some compensation for a delayed train journey so have potted that, along with 3 or 4 pound coins.

Oh my word MrsShazbat, it sounds as though your Covid is certainly going to be spread about a bit to others! So sorry to hear you have it but very surprised to hear how far and wide you'd been sent with it. I wouldn't be surprised if your friends and hubby's workmates soon have it too! I'm not surprised your hubby is coughing so much as the current Covid strain has been getting to the depth of the lungs.
The trouble is the tests can't be relied on as they often show up as negative when, in fact you're positive and vice versa.
Let's hope you both soon get some much-deserved sleep and get well soon!
Take very good care of yourselves and very well done with your change as well as Plum!

Hello A little_sweetie! Sorry to hear both G and you are feeling rough, though is it to do with your PC? So you're still having problems with your PC then. Why not get a laptop or an iPad, the latter being a lot cheaper? I'm not surprised the heat has affected you, the same with T & I, still way too hot now for our liking, but I'm afraid we've got to get used to it. 😵‍💫 Well done with keeping your potting up A! Take great care.

Hi again BlueJ94, you might have forgotten to post, but so long as you've still been potting that's the most important thing, very well done!

Hi Ant, and what amazing news that you've been compensated for a delayed train!! Well done with that as well as you're own cash!

Enjoy the week ahead SPCers, but beware an upsurge in Covid after the football and games!!  s

  • Thank you Ant  :)

Sue, we managed to get the PC repaired at last although that story would take a while to tell!  Short version:  We took it to PC World who said we needed a new hard drive.  They were out of stock so we had to go and buy a new hard drive to their spec ourselves & take it to them.  Then the tech guy went off sick!   Eventually they replaced the old hard drive with the new one (It's now 256GB whereas it was 1 TB before)  but when we collected it, it turned out it was the Bios at fault all along ....grrr....
It cost us £73 in total but, at least, it's working at the moment.  PC World?  :s

We're hating this heat, roll on Autumn (Sorry if you love it guys)

Have a great day everyone x

  • I've been absent for a few days as I have been staying with family, but there have been some round-ups from transactions sent to the virtual sealed pot and we know the little amounts add up!

We have just 78 days left before declaration day, keep at it everyone :)
