I feel for you. I get a lot of spiders here and some can be huge too. I'm scared to death of themboxer234 said:
I’m not sure how much more I can take rats will be one step to far. This is the first time I’ve lived in the countryside. The house is old and poorly insulated so far we have had; wood lice, wasps, giant spiders, a fox that poops in the garden, slugs in the living room 😱LippyDoodle said:Yeah sounds like moles. Rat holes can be dug anywhere. In the lawn, borders, especially going under a fence. Rats usually run the same route so that tends to leave a track leading to a hole. If they have been using the same runs for a while or if there is lots of them you can usually smell their urine too. They also leave very wet area's in long grass, bushes etc where they use urinate. You can sometimes see the poo pellets too, but no always.
I'd love the fox!! wouldn't want the slugs or wood lice in my house, get enough of them in the garden. How do you get slugs in your lounge?! I'm ok with rats.
I have no idea how the slugs get in I’ve caught a few in the middle of the night so gross.LippyDoodle said:

Oh no poor dog mine give them a sniff but don’t dig them.YoungBlueEyes said:Where we used to live there were beautiful fields at the end of the road. We had a lovely big old chocolate lab, she was a proper nosy/inquisitive/friendly.One day she dug down through a mole hill and jabbed her head in - and came out with a mole on her face! Blood everywhere, she was yelping and howling, it was horrific. She was a much changed dog after that 🙁0 -
I lived in countryside until recently. Had lines of mole hills running down the grass ( couldn't call it a lawn, more a back green) showing where the tunnels ran.
When we moved in we had two energetic dogs who ran about on the grass and the moles moved out. They obviously didn't like the constant thunder above them.
After they were no longer around the moles moved back. I just flattened the mole hills by standing on them and the grass regrew over the soil. If the flattened area was large I threw some grass seed down.

I’ve got two big boxers it doesn’t seem to be bothering the moles.sheramber said:I lived in countryside until recently. Had lines of mole hills running down the grass ( couldn't call it a lawn, more a back green) showing where the tunnels ran.

Sorry I shouldn't laugh. I have a rat coming in the garden since you started this thread. You sure you didn't send it me?
