BB sorry to confuse you lovely! its not an official wi, I should have said, I'll post that on Wednesday I was just pleased that some of the xmas gain had come off already & had to tell someone, my 2 year old gives me strange looks & laughs at me if i suddenly dance round the room after jumping off the scales especially now that i had some new scales for xmas & can weigh at home. I tended to get strange looks dancing round boots so had to contain it a bit.

Thanks emma:A . Oh, you should definitely post such good news - you've done so well :T and we're here to hear the good bits as well as support during the tough. I just needed to be sure.
Hang on in there vix - I can remember that feeling -the last 6 months can be sooo tedious, but they do go quickly and then you have a degree that will open all sorts of doors. In the meantime, you are honing your body in preparation for you launch into the next phase of your life, so it is a very important 6 months.

Thanks delly for that info, i might do it. Does anyone else go and do people go of the size 12/14 size variety?

i only like galazy chocolate bar, and i havent eaten once since waaaaaay before christmas, just before i started coming here. *proudness*

My apologies for talking so much today. People are probably sick to death of me but ive spent the last three days glued solid to this thing, and this is about the only level of verbal communication ive had since! minus the evenings obv.

Vix - I'm a size 20 (was a size 22) and attending a WW weekly meeting and I wasn't the largest person there. I'm in Northern Ireland (more expensive, harder to get the choccy bars as we're usually the last port of call for both the UK and Eire WW). I find the best way for WW is to find a meeting that you like. Not every leader is a good one and you need to remember that there may be other meetings with more informed/supportive or just plain nicer leaders in your area at a different time.

There are definitely a mixture of all shapes and sizes at most meetings and I find that most of the people who look to slim to be at weightwatchers are like that because they've lost all their excess weight doing the program. If you can afford the weekly meeting fee, and find a leader that you like, there's no program better than WW as you are allowed ANYTHING in your diet, just so long as you count the points for them.

By the way :T well done on avoiding the galaxy bars for so long:T that's sheer willpower.
Goal for 09: Get fit and foxy. target weight 11st. 5/80.

Hi all ( and a special Hi to the newbies), have just about managed to keep up with the thread but had no time for posting since Wednesday.
Diet has been good but only because I've been too stressed to think about cooking and eating.

Weds was my first day back at work since before Xmas, but I started a 6 month secondment which meant I was in a bit of a flap. The flap onl got worse when just after lunchtime OH phoned me and asked if I was sitting down and I thoughthe was going to tell me that Nan had passed away but no he had just received a phone call to say that his ex-wife had died at the weekend! (she was only 33).

We are now having to make plans for the children to come and live with us, which will be a shock to my system. This is being made no easier by his ex- MIL saying she does't want the children to come and live with us (we're not planning on moving them in here immediately as they haven't even spent the night with us both before - not through our choice I might add)

We're all meeting up tomorrow and will try to thrash out an action plan which will mean the needs of the children are best met.

We then had a phone call yesterday to say that Nan had been taken back into hospital as she was severely dehydrated ( so more panics and rushing about). We have today heard that she is better though as she has had adrip in which is helping to hydrate her.

Anyway 5 days to RC night and I can't wait (OH has said that he will ensure I sill get to go to these) hope to start back at Aqua aerobics next week too but not sure how long I will keep this up for when the kids first move in.

    Catch you all soon

I want to lose rather a lot of weight, 4st, this year.
I have a thyroid problem that caused me to gain weight alarmingly for 2yrs before treatment.
My Dr says I'm ok now since taking medication, but I still have this excess weight!
I have tried to lose weight on my own, but its not worked.
Now is the time of year to think about slimming clubs traditionally, being Jan: and new year resoultions etc:
So I am asking: Are slimming clubs worth the fees?
The only diet I ever went on was 10yrs ago, SW. I lost 3 stone, it stayed off untill the thryroid problem.
The class was s**t, rather like the 'Little Britain' slimming sketch on TV.
I just followed the diet, didn't have any support at class, in fact I think they got a bit !!!!!y when anyone lost 1lb.
That has put me off, along with the Paul Mckenna book I've just started to read, telling me diets don't work.
Has anyone read this ( I can make you thin)? and did it work?
What to do? Moneywise and support wise?
Obviously I haven't been able to shift it myself, so is a class my answer?
Help please .............. my local class starts next Monday evening.
    Thanks in advance

I go to weight watchers and to me it's worth the fees as the weekly weigh in in front of someone is the only thing that keeps me on the straight and narrow sometimes! (but i very rarely stay for the proper meeting - just go, get weighed and leave!

  • Dear Jules

Good luck with everything. Your situation puts everything into perspective. How very sad for the little ones and the grand parents who will also be feeling a great loss. It will be very hard on you as you may become a target for their sadness.

It's great though that you are all planning to put the children's needs first before your own.

    Best wishes.
