Didn't get time to eat since early morning - around about teatime I had to take MrsA to the doctor who immediately sent her to A&E as she couldn't breathe. It turns out with not being able to move her plastered leg, she got a Deep Vein Thrombosis clot which has now moved up to her lung, and she's now being treated for a pulmonary ambulism. That's as well as I understand it anyway. She'll be having daily injections in her stomach to thin her blood out for the time being and also on tablets for the next six months or so!!!!! She may even have to have her operation postponed, the one to take one of the pins out of her leg.
So having not eaten from 10am-10pm, I made very short work of a massive pizza and chips. Also, after a day like that, a bottle of wine is a must. I don't think I'll be losing this week folks
Oh Dear Ajax - Losing weight must be the last thing on your mind right now! Just concentrate on Mrs Ajax and give her a big hug from all of us. The pair of you must feel like you have been through the wars. Best wishes to her for a speedy recovery.
MarionWhen life hands you lemons, ask for tequilla and salt and give me a call!!!0 -
Ajax all the best to Mrs A, hugs for you both.
For some unknown reason last night my diabetic numbers were 32:eek:  supposed to be between 4-7 or even around 10 is good but 32:eek: suffering today big time, Frank bruno has battered me in the night:rotfl: :rotfl:
missyg according to the threads you posted I can eat 2,085 calories a day, that can't be right, must have done it wrong because I don't eat anywhere near that.
Vix you are going to look fab in shorts, simple as.:D
brighton belle arthritis is a nightmare isn't it? Endless sympathy with you.;)
Going t o have a prawn omellete for lunch, looking forward to it.
I agree wholeheartedly that the gym can help weight loss, health etc but it can be done without it as I do not know even know where the gym is and have managed to loose 5 and half stone!! Excercise can be lots of things, walking, playing with the kids in the park, playing scrabble, running up and down the stairs at work, dancing, cycling whatever it does not have to be the gym and if you can't get there or don't want to get there then fine so long as you keep on your feet more than you sit down and keep going the weight still comes off xxx0 -
Oh Ajax, I'm so sorry to hear about Mrs A! Send her a big hug from me and have one yourself too. As for the food, pah! I say. Life gets in the way sometimes and WL is the last of your priorities on a day like that. Nothing to feel bad about in the slightest. Let us know how Mrs A gets on.
Serendis, fantastic news on the loss, well done you! :T
Efrieze, if you get a chance to read this, I hope you have a fantastic time in Oz and a wonderful birthday! Look forward to hearing all about it.
Well, the best laid plans and all that... My body had other ideas about the gym this morning so I havent even made it...yet! OH gave me a shiatsu last night which totally whacked me out (not in the best of ways, but good for me - BB, you know what I mean) so this morning I felt like I'd been run over by a bus  So the gym is on hold but I'm hoping to go tomorrow if I can. People were talking about the London Marathon on the radio this morning and to be honest, I had a good cry about it (and am doing nowbetter out than in); I just miss my old life so much sometimes, it physically hurts you know? Any-way... I'm just off to see if I can sign up to the Race for Life yet, as that's my hope for this year.
Victory is completely right, exercise is far more than the gym, it's anything you love doing (and that's the key) that gets your heart going a little (yes, even scrabble counts). Have a lovely Saturday all, whatever you're up to xx

Argee with victory its all about been active and a little bit of a number game too.Bails how did you get on, did you get all sweaty or all wet?
My BMR is now 2241 against the old BMR of when I started of 3222. MrsS is 1290. Remember this is the basic needed for the body to function and maintian during the day, (as my dietication puts it, it's what need for you to sit there and watch telly all day!) so if your active, be is dance, pole dancing, cycling or gym these number will increase accordingly
Well time to whip it out and get it up for you ladiesIt maybe a little boring, but it makes sense to me
Its shows the gains after playing rugby and no real changes the weeks I didnt play rugby.

All best wishes to Mrs Ajax, what a nightmare for you both
Hope for a speedy recovery.
Efrieze, you may or may not see this but have a brilliant holiday!
Serendisglair, well done on the fab 1lb loss, esp with beer and Chinese last night, that's a great result!
Hi Taffy, thanks for checking in with us! I didn't discover the calorie needs thingy until I'd already shifted most of my weight, so it can certainly be done without!
Victory, sorry you're having a bad time with those naughty elevated numbersHope thing get better soon, does it normally take long for them to go back down? (Please excuse my ignorance).
I think my calorie numbers on the 'maintain' side seem high too. 1759 for a lightly active week and 1982 for a moderately active one! I've been dieting on 1200/day and plan to raise by 50/day each week until I find I'm maintaining. Whether I would actually be ABLE to eat 1982 daily I don't know! That's more than 1.5 times what I normally eat now! :rotfl:
Like anything, and as someone else (BB or Bails I think?) said, these things may be useful as a guide for some people, but it doesn't suit everyone. The main thing I wanted to do was back up my point about eating too few calories
Great point about the exercise too Victory, it doesn't have to be the gym, it should be something which suits each person's lifestyle. Extra walking is always a good start. I'd say don't rule anything out until you've given it a go. My own exercise certainly doesn't begin and end with the gym equipment, it might seem like it at the moment but that's because I like fair weather for most of my other activitiesI'm a real stay at home type in winter time, so that's why home gym equipment suits me
BailsI hate to think of you upset like that. Wish I could wave a magic wand for you and the others on here who struggle for one reason or another. Hopefully it helps a little bit to talk to us and tell us how you're feeling... and my fingers are crossed about the Race for Life!
Oooh Suggs! I'm going to study that in great detail! Then I'll be back!0 -
Suggs, very easy to see that Friday is a better day for your weigh in! Look how consistent those rugby gains were! You're also doing a great job with the maintaining as the majority is within a 5lb either way bracket even allowing for the rugby.
Right, as promised here's mine too. This is just a graph of my overall weight loss since I started in May last year. Blue line is target weight which has had a few adjustments along the way. Pink line is the actual. Two gains along the way - one was during my summer holiday and that was a "planned" gain as I ate whatever I wanted, and then a 2lb gain later on, both of the gains were swiftly dealt with I'm pleased to say!
It's very clear to see my weight loss slowed down, because if it had followed the original downward path, I would have made goal by about September and instead it was December! I might adjust my maintain weight, as I'm currently below it and I don't really want to gain weight.[removed]0 -

That is the problem I have, having settled into healthy eating with 3 meals, 2 snacks and 1 treat a day, I'm at a loss what to add to increase the calories. I feel full on what I eat.
I must admit, for your current size your 'maintain' calories do look a bit on the high side - but then you do sound rather active - I'm rather sedentary.

FFM, it's nice to have someone here who's facing a similar thing at the same time as me! I suggest we just watch and see how it goes for a few weeks, it might balance out on its own accord.
I for one won't be eating any more than I'm comfortable with just for the sake of the "numbers"!
What happens if too many of us go below our target and can't stop losing weight? Do we start a "Gain Weight 01" thread? :rotfl:0 -
Missyg, I didn't start recording my figures until September when I was given a RC GI Jeans Diet & Fitness Journal - it keeps me on the straight and narrow. Last week was my first ever 'gain', but turns out it was just a 'blip'.
How do you post a graph? I've managed to put my figures on to a graph but copy and paste doesn't work.
