    Afternoon All

My finger got on ok, and I have been discharded from Hospital, still cant fully clench a fist, but they are happy, should be ok to play next week, but will need to tape the finger for support.

In big shock with regards to my beloved Luton Town, 6 players sold in two days,so far, and the Manager, Assitant Manager and Coach quit as well

Thanks for noticing BrightonBelle, Missyg and Victory :rotfl:Friday weighin is working for me, purely I guess due to rugby playing seems to mean a gain in weight come Monday, The 3 full weeks of rugby playing I have had since daily weighing, resulted in a 4lb, 3lb & 3lb gain on the Monday. The two other weeks of non playing result in a very slight loss or maintian over the weekend. So it helps in my case. I would post the graph it that helps?

:grouphug: for you missyg, hope all is well, Victory I hope your lady flu is not man flu bad :)Gpuk, glad you got on ok at the gym it can be daunting first time you go, but remember everyone goes to the gym for the same reason and they all had a first day too :D

Theres too many B's! ha sorry BB. I know you were joking, im just trying to justify why im a lard !!!! :p Mainly to myself.

I also get you now missyg, but isnt the level of calorie determined by original weight? surely someone weighing 50 stone doesnt have to eat that minimum, but a size 10 person would?

Victory: fab! I dont think shorts - size 10 - vicki will ever go together! Thats vicki as in me, incase you are a vicki also :p Id love to wear shorts that everyone is wearing, infact, id love to go into river island and wear most of their stuff! I can obviously, but some things are a no no.

Oh look a game of Blankty Blank.............Lard <blank> :rotfl:

Thanks Missy for reiterating that your calorie intake was a negative thing, and well done for not exercising - I know how hard it is when you're 'in the zone' with fitness and unexpected rest days are a struggle. Hope your worries ease soon x
Well done GN on the new jeans, and as you know only too well, an 8 is not half a 16 (yes, in Maths - I'm on form with that today :D, just not in clothes). I'm with you BB, no desire to be an 8 either - I would seriously be a big head on a stick if I was! :rotfl:I would be over the moon to be a 12, but that'll only come if my recovery's good enough to take up sport again; if not a 14'll do me. Vix, you are not a lard in any shape or form so cut your tongue out as penance please! Some sound thoughts from Missy about it taking a while for the brain to catch up with the reality of your new size, and the same goes for your eyes too; quite often you continue to see the old you in the mirror. But work hard on changing that mindset -after all, you have all worked really, really hard to get where you are now and you need to be bigging yourselves up at every opportunity! Victory, thankyou for your honesty about finding it hard not to be down on yourself, it is the biggest hurdle of all I think and you will get there.Gpuk, well done on making the gym, sounds like you did a lot and lovely to treat yourself afterwards.
Can I indulge myself with a little tantrum please?....... I want to go to the gym, I WANT TO, I WANT TO! *stamps feet like small person* :o Thank you. Maybe I'll try GN's method...

    BMR calculator
    Daily calorie needs
    Calorie intake to lose weight

They explain the whole calorie thing far better than I can - but it's worth highlighting this bit:
"As a guide to minimum calorie intake, the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) recommends that calorie levels never drop below 1200 calories per day for women or 1800 calories per day for men. Even these calorie levels are quite low."
My BMR is 1279, and Vix you are right that a heavier person will start with a higher BMR and therefore be able to maintain or lose weight at the same rate as myself, on a higher calorie intake (age and activity levels play a part also - as do many other factors I'm sure).

I'd really recommend working out your numbers as a guide, getting my head around this stuff has helped me such a lot.

Obviously there are times when we all consume too few calories, such as when we're ill or, like me, just off my food yesterday for other reasons and you can't force yourself to eat. I'm sure the occasional day or two of undereating isn't a problem, just as the occasional day of indulgence isn't ;)

I'm not feeling any hungrier today but I have managed 1016 (and still holding off on the exercise).

Hope I've got all my facts right, please anyone correct any errors.

I have the same approach to exercise; I talk seriously to myself before doing any and often manage to talk myself right out of it.

Grannynise, that's a classic!!! :rotfl: Thank you for putting a smile on my face!

Gpuk, glad the gym went well! If you have chance (and if you haven't already), how about getting one of the gym leaders to help you with a personal plan? If you let them know you want to lose a bit of weight, they should be able to make some recommendations based on how often you can go, and how much time you have per session. I know some places charge extra for this. (ps: Thanks for the hug too!)

Suggs if you show me yours, I'll show you mine! GRAPHS I'm talking about!!!

Bails, exactly right about the mirror too. At least thanks to your initiative with the photos, I can compare before and after now, and even I can see the difference there, which helps!

    Happy weekend everyone!

    Hi Missyg

Thanks for those links, really useful. I'm just learning to 'maintain' and was aiming to eat approx 10,500 cals per week.

According to those links, my BMR has gone from 1437 to 1271 which I did by eating about 8000-8500 calories a week.

I ate 10,500 last week and this week it should be about 10,000 (my weeks end Friday night and my WI is Saturday am). The calculator on your link suggested 10,676 calories so my aim of 10,500 seems about right.

    Thanks again, FFM :)
