  • I haven't had a holiday since we first moved here two years ago and that was only a three day trip to the Norfolk Coast and it was chucking down with rain the whole time 🤣 all these diaries and talk of trips and holidays make me want to go and book one.
I hope you make the savings goal! It's such a motivational boost when you do! 😁

  • Morning Hotdog! It's really tough when money is tight and we want to do things that everyone else seems to be able to achieve easily. DP and I wanted to get married but we have kids in the home still, (expensive) and we've done two homes up now and going on to our third one (we need our heads checking I think). We'd love to go on holiday too and I would love a car. I sold mine just before I moved because we couldn't afford the jump up in mortgage and to run the car so I kind of had to sacrifice it for more space. I'm sort of glad I did but I missed my freedom and I have to ask to borrow DP car all the time....it's not the same. So I understand your want for a car. I want one too still 🙈

How big is your mortgage and your interest rate? Are you OP at the moment or is it on hold a bit like mine for EF and other things?

I hope your day turns around and you have a good one. I'm also not one for the heat anymore. Middle aged hot flushes have killed all love of the heat for me these days. So I feel your pain on that one! I wish it would be sunny but with a lovely breeze and just warm enough to wear summer clothes but not be too hot. 🤣 About 18 degrees probably....🤣 Anyway have a good day 😁

  • Oh wow are you locked in at that low rate for ten years?! That's fab if you are and gives you plenty of time to save up to pay it down.
I think sometimes our brain tells us we are hungry but we aren't ...we may be thirsty or lacking a vital nutrient...have you had your bloods done to see if there is anything lacking?
Good plans going forward! Good luck 😃

  • It's great to look back and see how much you've achieved isn't it.

Have you thought about sending money to your OP or EF every time you avoid the shops for snacks or impulse purchases? Instead of spending it on the things that you're trying to stop you could just do an immediate transfer to savings instead (if you're able to on your phone). Seeing it go up might be eye opening as to how much you were spending and also help with savings goals and weight loss. Win win 😁

  • Sorry you're struggling with the change in habits hotdog. It's hard. Sugar tastes good it gives an instant dopamine hit and makes us feel good very quickly. And give energy. Obviously we know logically it's not good. And after the energy comes the crash. And the weight gain etc etc and all the rest but we still reach for it .... It is hard I have sympathy. Perhaps a group might be of help in boosting morale as well as having people to talk to going through the same thing. Hugs ❤️

  • Go you! 🎉
You've achieved loads. And I understand the spends on the house as you want to make it your home...I try to look on FB now for second hand bargains or at antique shops (our style though and perhaps not for everyone) or charity shops. It can be a great way to do the house up cheaper. I'm sure you will love seeing those items you've bought though and if you can afford them why not!?!

I think one day at a time is a must for the weight loss journey

  • Lampshades are very cute! Love them!

I find when on a diet I have to get through three days of feeling starving before the hunger pains disappear somewhat. It's hard going and it is mind over matter. If you know you've eaten enough food it is just your mind telling you you're hungry because your body is probably addicted to bad foods.

You're doing well ..you can just write today off and get back on it tomorrow. 😊
