Certainly the amount of these late DDs will eventually be credited to customers' Shell accounts.
But will the funds actually be transferred to Shell, separately from the rest of Green's finances? Or will the cash all go into the general pool of Green's assets, which will eventually be paid to a mixture of Shell and Green's other creditors?
My understanding is the former. As the firm has entered administration, new funds received will be ringfenced and passed to Shell.

I heard a senior manager from Shell interviewed on the radio, the other day. I didn't feel he was out of his depth and he didn't make any rash promises. Shell are new to the SoLR game, so I would rather they learned to walk before they run.

I don't use Twitter or Facebook for good reason.
According to their post on Twitter they have taken on about 6 companies, so may not as you as you think.

I agree with you, they should take one on and learn the ropes then take on more.

I also do not use Twitter or FB et al, I took a sneak peek to see if there was anything useful.

Shell took on 50 extra staff, immediately, when they took on their first SoLR and were aiming to increase that to 120 in short order.
When I called them there was an option to choose if you had been moved because your supplier went bust, this is NOT the option to choose, it takes you to the horrible call centres in India and South Africa who know sweet FA. I gather these call centres were taken on as part of the deal with Ofgem. We must get a Freedom of Information request in to Ofgem to get details of the commercial arrangement and how much public money is being spent. Going through as if you are a Green customer is best route, queues are long but not as long, staff are variable, Lady on Polish one was delightful but not equipped to help customers, she told me some of the real truths about the screw up.

There is no public (Government) money being spent. All the SoLR costs will be recovered via a levy on consumers (like you and me).
Exact details of every energy companies claims will be published by Ofgem once the sums are agreed, just as has happened with previous SoLRs. See for example:

If Shell use my reading on 27 Sep (which I did submit on Green's site) it will be 200kwH lower than Green used on my final bill to 13 Sep. So unless Green administrators are issuing final bills as at 27 Sep I could pay for those 200 kwH twice. Oh well, let's see what happens I guess. I have been sent an email about the tariff I will be on but no account set up yet. I'm waiting for the fact I am an ex-Shell customer with a previous logon under my email address to cause issues too!
Honestly my advice is to recall your Direct Debits to the value of your credit due.  Better to owe money to them than be kept for months for them to take their sweet time sorting it out.

  • I would like Shell management, senior or otherwise, to instruct their customer facing staff to tell the truth, rather than making promises that they cannot keep, or have no intention of keeping. Being economical with the truth, at best, is not a good look for any company that values its reputation, customers and continuation in business. I will certainly not be recommending them any time soon.

I'm failing to see what difference the geographical location of a call centre makes.

  • @Verdigris Kindly provide a source for your statement about Shell taking on extra staff. Or are you just being contrary, for a change? Do you have a vested interest to declare, or are you just a natural defender of big corporations?

You can check on your DNO's website to see if you've been transferred to Shell. I have.

Does it really matter how long it takes to get the account up and running? There's nobody offering anything better than cap price for the foreseeable.

I'd rather the transfer was done accurately, first time, rather than rushed with errors.
Why keep defending this complete omnishambles,  it has not been done accurately, not first time or any time. They are getting data in batches, staff I got chatting to said a lot of customers not happy with the numbers so they take a note of customer numbers but say you will have to raise a dispute when things settle down.

Note these accounts that have been transferred "first time" have not got credit.

People were told to keep direct debits going which is an auditing nightmare.

Some have continued to submit to Green site, my approach is Green has gone bust, I am only interested in Shell and whether they have my balance.

I am sure we would all rather the transfer was done accurately first time, but that is not happening and we are getting errors anyway.
