Got email yesterday from Green to say my DD is cancelled, which means Shell will be taking over the account soon as they are doing the change-over. Seems things are progressing ok.

I supplied my details to shell via pm and my account has been set up. I do have a problem because I had smart meters installed 3 weeks before green went bankrupt. The electricity one seems to be working fine . The gas one though communicating properly (verified by citizens advice smart meter checker) has not been properly setup at greens end so shell have no record of a new meter and are estimating readings from a now scrapped old manual cubic feet meter. However following discussions with Kyle at shell and plenty of evidence supplied by myself of meter change  I'm confident this will be resolved. Thanks for all your help Kyle.

I'm wondering what opening readings Shell will use for the first bill. Green took five months to issue my first bill after switching to them. I supplied manual readings but they finally sent me a bill with estimated readings a few days before they went bust - while I was abroad on holiday. Their estimated electricity meter reading was about 200 kwH too high. I sent them an actual when I got back but they had ceased operating. So I have a reading from a couple of days after Shell took over but that is 200 kwH below what Green already billed me for. I should get my £113 Green credit back but will Shell use the inflated estimate from Green as their starting point as the real reading is still below that? Luckily my SMETS2 electricity meter hasn't worked since Shell installed it when I was with them two switches ago, so I don't see them knowing the current actual reading is below the supposed Green reading in mid September.

Yes Ive continued to put my readings into greens site and screenshots done of it. I have been billed up to 31st August by green. I asked shell for my account details and they sent me an email to activate my account. The opening readings were from 27th September (date shell took over). As explained In previous post gas reading totally wrong though as I had smart meters installed 3rd September and shells opening gas reading has been based on my Old meter and grossly overeestimated. Its greens fault as the New meter wasnt commissioned correctly. They are sorting it out for me. I assume we will also get a final green bill from the administrators or shell for 1st September until 27th September charged at greens rates

If Shell use my reading on 27 Sep (which I did submit on Green's site) it will be 200kwH lower than Green used on my final bill to 13 Sep. So unless Green administrators are issuing final bills as at 27 Sep I could pay for those 200 kwH twice. Oh well, let's see what happens I guess. I have been sent an email about the tariff I will be on but no account set up yet. I'm waiting for the fact I am an ex-Shell customer with a previous logon under my email address to cause issues too!
  • @Redrob28 Five months for your first bill? That is ridiculous.

I wonder what Shell's priority will be with credit refunds?

Customers who were still with Green when they ceased to trade?
Ex customers who had managed to switch away before they ceased to trade, but still are awaiting a final account and probable refund?

I would be interested to know the relative numbers in the two groups, and whether Shell intend to stick to the 'normal' industry timetables for resolution.

No need to wonder, the priority is always the existing customers as those are not refunds, they simply move as a credit onto their Shell account.
  • As I suspected. Super.

Your only hope for an early refund is if Shell agree with the Administrators that Green will handle the refunds for ex-customers...
Doesn't happen often but it is theoretically possible.
