I heard a senior manager from Shell interviewed on the radio, the other day. I didn't feel he was out of his depth and he didn't make any rash promises. Shell are new to the SoLR game, so I would rather they learned to walk before they run.

I don't use Twitter or Facebook for good reason.
  • 3 weeks since Green ceased trading, and not a lot of progress. Since then, they have taken on another 3 or 4 failed companies, and 700,000 orphan customers out of nowhere. I’m not necessarily blaming Shell - they’ve been put in an invidious position, and will need additional resources with little time.

I don’t use Facebook either, but I do find Twitter a useful reference. Different strokes for different folks is fine.

Shell took on 50 extra staff, immediately, when they took on their first SoLR and were aiming to increase that to 120 in short order.
  • Nothing from Shell either just a repeat of a previous initial email.

I cancelled the direct debit. My electricity stayed with PurePlanet and l will be cancelling that as well.
  • Ofgem has just announced Shell Energy as the SoLR for defunct GoTo as well. Even more orphan customers for Shell to absorb.
  • EDF does not want any more SoLR customers, for the reasons mentioned above

Only about 22,000 this time though.
Even with this addition, the total of what they have swept up in the last couple of months still falls short of the number for Avro alone.
I think that puts the list of those gaining the most customers from these failures something like this:
    1. Octopus
    2. Shell
    3. British Gas

I switched from Green to Neon Reef 28 September. Green will owe me just over £300 & all advice I've seen says this will come from shell now.

I know it's probably still too soon, but I've had no communication from shell, so sent them a message on twitter yesterday. I asked them to check that I was on a list 'somewhere' & had they got any idea how long it might be before they contact me.

They've confirmed my switch info 28 September & told me I'll need to contact neon reef for info on my credit. That's incorrect isn't it?

    Thanks

    Yes, that is incorrect.
I would cut them some slack though, the initial focus is going to on moving and integrating all the live accounts. Only after that happens will they get around to the closed accounts with balances owed.
If your account is not actually closed, and you are still waiting on a final bill from Green then that is also likely to take a little while yet unfortunately and of course there will be no refund until the final bill is actually produced...

Thanks. I've had a further reply from them now, confirming refund will eventually come from Shell. They also said Green administration process is going very slowly & unable to provide any timescale at the moment. At least they're being up front about it!
