NSD 9/14
We celebrated DH’s birthday yesterday and as was to be expected it was a spendy day, but not as bad as it could have been!
Today an NSD. Toast for breakfast, seafood paella for lunch and tonight cheese and crackers. We are still eating the trifle as well.
This morning, did some washing and gardening. This afternoon collapsed in our chairs.

Today we fancied a change, so changed the living room around. I think its much better now. The only cost will be a longer TV aerial cable, £9 from Argos. I’ll order it on Wednesday afternoon and pick it up on Thursday when I go shopping. As a consequence I have finally (after several years of saying it) managed to convince DH to re-hang the sitting room door the other way – he has now done that. It’s made a massive difference and has really opened the room up.
I’ve also done some washing today – how can two retired people have so much washing? I swear I do more washing now than I did when I was working and there were 3 of us living here! Although, to be fair it was our bedding and the spare bed bedding. DS is coming home in a couple of weeks and he sometimes has friends to stop over (if they’ve been to the pub!), so I like to refresh the spare bed just in case.
I’ve made some muffins for our breakfasts. We had two with a cuppa round 3 o’clock and the rest in the freezer and I’ll just take out for in the mornings now and toast for breakfast.
I visited my friend this afternoon.
The weather has been very cloudy and rainy, but today is fairly bright with the sun peeping out now and again. We had a walk this morning around the village and looked around the local garden centre.
Breakfast was toast, late lunch of stir fry and prawn crackers and supper tonight will be cheese on toast – the toast will be using bread I made the other day garlic and tomato bread – so a bit of a frugal eating day today.

We celebrated today as DH has received the first instalment of his Government pension! We had lunch out at a local pub, £9.49 for two main courses.
This afternoon I planted some more rhubarb, the ones I had planted before did not germinate, so hopefully these ones will. I have put them in a warmer place so fingers crossed.
Breakfast was croissants, lunch out and then tonight we’ll just have some cheese on toast.

All sounds good mrs p 😼
My bedroom door needs alignment at some stage. It’s a fire door with the chain built in . Will have to get someone to do it ..one day !It does make a difference when you start changing things around . Sounds great what you’re doing.
Congrats on the pension .Keep going . It all sounds good ..2 -
Happy first pension day to your DH!Changing the living room around sounds good too - I’d love to have the option to do that but there’s really nowhere else our furniture can go, which is annoying. It works well enough as it is, it’d sometimes be nice to have a change, though.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Lots of cleaning and housework done this morning.
My friend called round about 11 and we had coffee and gossip in my new changed around living room.
Chucked a few more bits and pieces into the charity bag.
Worked on my meal planning and shopping list as I’m food shopping tomorrow. I like to do an online shop for the cleaning stuff, toilet rolls and tinned goods – the heavy stuff. The rest I like to do in person.
Breakfast toast, lunch tuna sandwich and tea corned beef macaroni cheese.

No NSD today as I went food shopping – but I did stick to my list – apart from a couple of reduced items which I’m really pleased with – 4 portions of fish for £1.69 and 4 chicken kievs for £150 Bargain.
Breakfast toasted muffin, lunch scotch egg salad and tea tonight fish and oven chips.
Did a bit of sewing and lots of knitting. Weather really windy and overcast and extremely cold so I won’t be going out again.
