Happy Easter. No NSDs for me this Easter weekend.
This evening we are off to the cinema to see Operation Mincemeat.
Weather has been foggy all weekend sadly! I always say we don;t get good weather in Cornwall
Breakfast was poached egg on tattie scones, lunch will be lamb shank with mashed swede and sweet potato and some carrots. Supper after the cinema will be cheese and biscuits and easter eggs.Debt free and Keeping on Track2 -
Happy Easter mrs p 😼🐣
Sunny here all weekend . Set to change tomorrow I think 💧2 -
NSD 6/14
A lovely start to the day – I walked down to collect my prescription – bumped into some friends who were going to the café for breakfast – they forced me in and paid for me. How lovely. Also means I can keep my NSD for the day.
Cakes baked and meal planning done.
Won’t have lunch because of the breakfast. Dinner tonight is sausage casserole and mash.
Weather a bit touch and go, partly sunshine but there is a big black cloud hovering and its not very warm.

NSD today – but I’m going to struggle to meet my NSD target this month – it was a bit ambitious as I have two birthdays and the Easter bank holiday didn’t help. But, it’s keeping me focussed on my spending.
Done some holiday planning. Away in June for two weeks and then September for a week. We may have a few days away here and there in between times.
Breakfast toast, lunch egg mayo sandwich and dinner tonight is veggie stir fry.

I've decided to try not to dwell too much on what I can't change - that is being organised with my little savings pots for car repairs, Christmas etc., I can't do anything properly until we start to get DH's Govt pension, which will be towards the end of May. Even then it will take several months for it to kick in properly. My feelings are it will take a good 12 months to be fully in control - allowing for those annoying things which will crop up.
So, instead of dwelling on that, I am going to focus on the stuff I can change. I desperately need to lose some weight, so can focus on that. I also have let my facial cleansing routine go - a combination of not going to work and lockdown, that has begun today. I've given myself a mini home facial.Debt free and Keeping on Track2 -
You seem very realistic mrs p and are conscious now of what you can fix in the future, and things you can do now .
my saying “ life is crap !” Is right on so many levels . We all have been battered deliberately in the last 3 or so years , and the fuel increase / green agenda just being the tip of the iceberg.
You are doing really well with the breaks etc and rightly so .I’d say once you get the card down to £3K and make that the maximum limit , you’ll be on top of things for sure. You eat far more healthily than me as you know , and I think you know my solution for you to reach your weight target .
I’ll leave it there 😼1 -
The budgeting pots are definitely a great way of staying in control financially - and the reassurance of knowing that all bar the truly unexpected issues can be covered from saved funds is huge. I can’t imagine going back to having to scrimp and save to pay for things like car servicing now - so much simpler to stick a small amount aside each month so it’s there when needed.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

It’s DH’s birthday on Saturday. He has requested a trifle rather than cake. I’ve started on it today. I use my Mum’s recipe. Sponge in the base of the bowl and add some sherry (I used whisky as I didn’t have sherry), then I made an orange jelly and layered mandarins on top of the sponge, then the jelly on top. Once that is all set I then add sliced bananas and then custard (I use a tin of custard). Back in the fridge for that to set a bit and then I add whipped cream and decorate with hundreds and thousands. I’ll add the custard and bananas tomorrow and then the whipped cream just before serving.
We went for a walk about 7 last night as it was quite sunny and warm as the wind had dropped. It was really nice and something I think we will aim to do most evenings weather permitting.
So today I’m also making spinach and lentil pie from the Hairy Bikers Everyday Winners, we’ll have that or dinner tonight with some swede mash. I will freeze the leftovers.
I’ve taken some frozen pea soup out to defrost and that will be for lunch today and tomorrow. I’ll make some soda bread later to go with the soup. Again, I’ll freeze whatever we don’t eat for another day.
The washing basket is full again, so I’ll pop the machine on in a minute. Not sure about the weather today, its cloudy but there is a bit of blue peeping through. Hopefully it will fine away and I can line dry the washing.

I needed to buy cream today for my trifle. Then DH and I popped for a cheeky drink when we went for a walk around the village this afternoon. So, no NSD today.
Breakfast was toast, lunch soup and bread and dinner tonight is fish and chips (not from the chippy).
