    NSD 5/16

Weather really dreary so far today, although it looks like it might fine away later.  It’s that horrible fine rain at the moment.  I popped out to the garden for a few minutes to plant out some chives my friend gave me yesterday.

I have discovered a recipe for a Beacon tart – to be eaten during the beacon lighting ceremony as part of the Jubilee.  I want to make some different meals,  This tart looks good.  (just Google Beacon tart recipe for it).  It’s a bit like a fancy quiche I suppose.  I have printed the recipe out so that’s one thing I’ll be making.  It’s only DH and me for that weekend but it will be nice to do some different things.  There are to be some events in our village so far we have the lighting of a beacon, a boot/jumble sale/outdoor fair type event and an open air church service on the village green.  More events to be announced.  I will also make the winning jubilee pudding – we will find out what that is tomorrow night when Mary Berry announces it on TV!

Breakfast was porridge with berries, lunch is leftover lobster with salad and tonight we are taking DS to steak night at the pub (so no NSD).

Just had a letter from the electric company - they recommend changing our DD from £86 to £106.  Not such a shock as I thought it would be.  I was dreading it being doubled.  I will change to that amount.  Just tried to set up an account online to change it, but "oops something has gone wrong please phone us"  No idea as I have all the details.  Will need to wait till tomorrow morning and get DH to phone as its in his name.

How lovely to have a friend who can provide you with lobster!

If your DH hasn't yet phoned the energy provider it would probably be a good plan to get him to ask them to put a note on the file giving you authority to speak with them. It can make life a lot easier if anything happens. I can't imagine why utility companies are so behind the times when it comes to having two names on an account, but they all seem to be the same on this!

  • Another thing with utility co. Have you / DH downloaded app?
It's handy for altering DD , plus you can do 'live chat' ( well, most of the time but would imagine them being extremely busy at the present time ) .

It was les miserables here on the weather front most of yesterday also . ☁️🌨
Bed time around 5-8 degrees so not changing to light duvet just yet .
Getting warmer and more sunny for a good few days apparently . I'm sounding like Michael fish 🐠, so I'd better leave it there 😼..

    Lovely plans for the Jubilee.

I have the same situation with my tooth. It isn't painful and it hasn't flared up for a few years. I will eventually lose it according to the dentist. I have the dentist's assurance that it wont affect surrounding teeth so I decided to leave it for now. I will need to save for an implant so the later the better. As soon as I have the money I will take the tooth out!

Good luck with whatever you decide.

    NSD 7/16

Well Thursday afternoon my laptop charger finally gave up the ghost.  It’s been dodgy for a few months now.  I ended up having to buy one off Amazon.  It arrived today and is working fine.

    NSD today.

A fair bit of sewing done this morning.  Also I did some batch baking ready for the Jubilee weekend as I wanted to do a special afternoon tea.  I tried it out on DH today.  We had home made vol au vents (some are now in the freezer for the Jubilee weekend).  I filled them with egg mayo and some others with tuna mayo.  So for “lunch” we had an afternoon tea of the vol au vents, scones with cream and jam and Empire biscuits.  Was nice to have the vol au vents as a change from sandwiches.

Dinner later tonight will be cottage pie.

Weather lovely first thing, so did a bit of gardening and tidying outside.  Minute I put some washing on the line – it changed and ended up raining so the dining room is covered in horses and washing.    Its now very murky and raining.

Breakfast/brunch was bacon and eggs fry up, early tea/late dinner will be bunnychow in bread.

Managed to get in a quick walk before the weather changed.
