    NSD 10/16

No NSD today.  DS goes back to London first thing tomorrow so we are having a treat of a Thai take away tonight and will also watch Top Gun.

DH received his first full state pension – my goodness that is really going to make a difference to us – it supplements the private pensions nicely.

    Jobs done today:

Sort out tents, so DS can take one back to London to use at Glastonbury

Scones baked – to go in the freezer ready for Jubilee weekend

Banking checked and budgets re-allocated.  Once DH gets paid his “normal” pensions at the beginning of the month we can see exactly how much tax has been taken off and then do a proper budget going forwards

    Walk round the village

  • Just catching up..
you have great neighbours and living in a nice area . Nice touch about the lobster and fence.

It's funny about the rain . It has been intermittent here with no real downpours .

Great news about DH pension .

    NSD 11/16

We took DS back to the station yesterday morning and used the journey to do a bit of a top up of the food shopping – I also bought some wool for a jumper.  I also got a bargain at the charity shop.  I wanted a nice glass bowl – flattish – to use for trifles, well I found one plus it had 6 glass individual bowls for serving with it £10 and I managed to get an extra £1 knocked off when I cheekily asked for a discount.

We were a bit naughty last night and went to the pub for the steak night – the excuse was we were missing DS.

Today will be an NSD – still hoping to make my target this month.  Which means no more spending this month.

This morning I’ve hoovered around.  Put washing in the machine but not switched on as the weather is looking like it could go either way.  We are promised lots of sunshine tomorrow so I’ll hang fire till then.

My friend is coming round this afternoon for our knit and natter/stich and b&&tch session.  I’ve taken some cakes out of the freezer and put some nice pink icing on them for us to have with our cuppa.

Money checked, I’m making an effort to check the accounts most days now rather than just leaving it till payday.

Breakfast was some little scotch pancakes which I bought (yellow sticker) yesterday with fried egg, lunch will be salad and tea tonight is sausage pasta bake.

Sunny here again today.  One load of washing already on the line, another ready to go into machine.

Gardening today, I need to move some veggies from the greenhouse into the veg patch.  Perhaps a bit of weeding in the border as well.

Breakfast was toast, lunch soup and dinner tonight is oven chips and fish.

    NSD 14/16

Busy day this morning!  Firstly the neighbour who fishes and gives us lobsters had some sausages for us!  I cooked them up and froze them (they were defrosted so I couldn’t freeze raw).  They will be great for sandwiches, pasta bakes etc.  Then, the other neighbour knocked the door with eggs.  He gives me eggs and I make him cakes.  So I made 3 cakes, one for the Egg neighbour, one for the fishing neighbour (we are also going out on his boat on Tuesday morning so I will bring the cake then), and one for another neighbour who has invited us to a BBQ this afternoon!

Got some of my summer dresses out of the suitcase and ironed them – they are now in the wardrobe – I’m ready for summer J  So, if the weather changes, you will know who to blame.

Breakfast this morning was scotch pancakes and poached eggs.  That will see us through to the afternoon for the BBQ.  Not sure we will need anything else this evening.

Went to visit a local NT property and had coffee and shortbread.  Such lovely weather again today.

Breakfast was porridge, lunch chicken and cous cous and a supper of tuna may wrap.

Sat about in the garden most of the afternoon then went for a walk around the village.

    NSD 1/10

We are away the last couple of weeks in June in the motorhome – going to the Cotswolds and then Salisbury and Devon.  So, I’m going to aim for 10 NSDS this month.  Today is the first one.

Payday today, so banking and monthly budgets done.  Still trying to fathom out DH’s tax – has been taxed on one of his pensions, but we got the full payment for this last month.  I am giving it till next month now and then hoping that I can set a proper budget as by then we should know how much he will actually be being paid!

I’ve been busy on the cooking front.  I’ve made two savoury quiches one for tomorrow and Friday and the other has gone in the freezer and we’ll take that away on holidays.  I’ve started a trifle for the weekend and I’ve also made some banana muffins (again to take away on holiday) which have gone in the freezer.   Doing this batch cooking meant that I made good use of the oven.

My online shop arrived last night and for the first time I was disappointed as the bananas were almost bad – hence my making the muffins today and the rest will go in the trifle.  That is the first time in nearly 2 years that I’ve had a “bad” selection.  But, all used up now.

Breakfast this morning was porridge and berries, lunch tuna open sandwiches and tonight we are having jacket potatoes with beans and cheese.  I’m cooking the potatoes in the remoska – first time I’ve done this so hope it goes well.  Hoping to use the remoska more in the house if possible than the oven in the hopes of making a small saving on electricity.

Washing done and now line drying – very cloudy today with the odd burst of sunshine.  Veggies in the greenhouse watered.

Excellent planning and preparation as usual mrs p 😼
As for the bananas, if the quality is bad next time you may consider splitting from that online shopping co.
The tax will be sorted eventually I'm sure . Very taxing to us , but not to them .
Probably the biggest hurdle is making contact with someone to sort it ..
