DH had to go to the next village for a blood pressure test (all normal) I took the opportunity of the drive to pop to the local Co op and stocked up on a few essentials for me – milk, fruit and veg and some non-essentials for DS – chocolate and crisps.
Spent some time going through my Paypal account – I needed to delete a subscription (direct debit), as I have decided to cancel the monthly quilt I am doing – so that is £6.50 saved per month. Not a great deal, but I have fallen behind with the quilt and I am not enjoying it as much as I have enjoyed doing other quilts. This is an all machine quilt and I prefer hand sewn and preferably with embroidery. The materials were all from my stash so I can use on something else. Whilst I was grappling to find where the payments went out on Paypal I saw there were a load of others which I had set up years ago – last used in 2016. Once I figured out how to delete them (it was very easy in the end), I tidied the whole account up.
My friend is coming round for out knit and natter this afternoon.
Breakfast was porridge and berries, lunch home made pea soup with tomato and garlic bread and tonight its scampi and coins (potatoes sliced into rounds and fried – DH’s speciality dish). DS loves them. We will have them with a bit of salad or perhaps some baked beans.
We watched an interesting film on Netflix last night called Boiling Point. About a chef and the stresses he was under – was all filmed in one take apparently – I enjoyed it.

Good work on the PayPal tidying - I have always resisted setting up recurring payments from there - anything that goes out I do manually, because I was concerned at the potential difficulty of cancelling, so glad it was straightforward enough once you found the right place.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

One other thing we did was call Ovo Energy to change our DD to their recommendation of £106. AC, thanks for the tip, they have now put me down as a contact and I am now apparently "financially liable"!! I take it from that, if we don't pay the bill then I go to prison and DH gets off scott free
All, in all, though, was good to get that sorted out. I think our water is in DH's name as well, so I think we will give them a call and ask for me to be able to talk to them as well.Debt free and Keeping on Track1 -
financially liable means if you don't pay the bill you'll both be chased for payment!

Weather glorious today. I went out bare legged for the first time this year! Hopefully I can now put my tights away for the summer - fingers crossed.
I treated DS to breakfast at the café today. That will mean we won’t need any lunch as we both had the bacon and egss etc.. I also did a bit of shopping whilst I was out – bread flour from the farm shop, peat free compost from the garden centre (which DS carried for me) and picked up my prescription. So, a lovely walk around the village, plus we sat outside for our breakfasts.
This afternoon I plan to do some gardening and sit outside with my cuppa, knitting and book a bit later on.
DH is out for the day – left at the ungodly hour of 6am and won’t be back till late.
I will make a sausage pasta bake (with some sausages I didn’t use in the toad yesterday) and that will do for tea tonight. If DH needs food when he gets in it won’t take long to warm it through for him. If he doesn’t then I can freeze any uneaten portions.

More gardening done this morning – some carrots and onions planted out into the veg patch. My dahlias transplanted from the seed trays into individual pots.
Some hydrangea cuttings taken. Its all a bit of an experiment at the moment to see what works and what doesn’t and that is the fun of it.
I really do need to do some weeding desperately in one of my borders. However, it rained all night and is very wet still, I know that is probably a good time to do it, but I HATE weeding so will put it off till it’s a sunny day.
We have decided to go to the pub late afternoon/early evening for a drink (or 3)! So no NSD today. However, the pub have a loyalty card for locals and it gives 20p for each pound spent – yes it’s a fantastic deal. We have built up a few points on it, DS also took it when he went out with his mates so that means we can get a substantial amount off tonight.
Breakfast was porridge and berries. Lunch tomato sandwiches and tonight we will have oven fish and chips after the pub. I will get them out of the freezer just before we go and put them ready in the oven and then just switch on when we get in. That way we won’t be tempted by the chippy!
DS and DH are taking the fence down in the front garden between us and next door – it was rotten anyway and next door said “we don’t mind if you take it down and don’t replace it”. That suits us fine as it is our fence so that is a cost saving as we would have had to replace this year anyway. If they ever move house then we will just put a fence up as and when if we need to. This is one of the reasons we decided not to move when we retired, we are so very lucky with all our neighbours, not just the ones bordering us.

Today I’m wearing a brightly coloured summer dress. I’ve decided that summer is here at last. I am also wearing a cardigan, not quite ready to bare my arms as yet.
Breakfast toasted muffin, lunch soup and bread and dinner tonight is spinach and lentil pie.
Had a walk down to the village and bought a few bits and pieces.
Bit more gardening done and general pottering around.

Was a spendy weekend as we were out and about enjoying the sunshine.
Today I need to get a few bits and pieces from the shop.
We got fresh lobsters from our friend yesterday so for breakfast we had lobster benedict, lunch soup and dinner tonight is cottage pie.
We are suffering today from having such lovely weather at the weekend – so far it hasn’t stopped raining.
Looking forward to the new series of Silent Witness tonight.

I definitely have lobster envy Mrs P - what a lovely friend!
As for the weather - it's been absolutely pouring down here for most of the morning, too!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡
