Sending hugs foxholes, Ditty & everyone else who needs them.
NSD#8
Sorry I've been AWOL, had a great time away. Saw all the family apart from one, they spoilt us rotten. Visited all the places we wanted to see too, so came away happy. Very grateful for the assistance staff at the train stations. By missing our connection at Sheffield (only had 7 mins to change trains), the later train we caught meant we didn't have to change again at Edinburgh, as it took us all the way to Aberdeen ☺️
The only snag in it all was my mouth. On my right side it has become very clenched & I can only separate my jaws very slightly, so have to cut my food into no more than 2mm thickness to fit it through the gap. Mentioned it at work yesterday & a couple of colleagues thought my neck looked swollen on that side too. Phoned the two dental practices & left messages, but no phonecall. A different colleague told me to just go to the dentist & the lovely receptionist there squeezed me in. So I have an infection which is starting to go down my neck, the dentist couldn't believe I'd been like this for 10/11 days! Not yet sure if it's from where my wisdom tooth was, or a tooth nearby. I now have 2 lots of antibiotics to take & having a check up with the dental surgeon this morning.
Grateful for something being done about my mouth, a helpful receptionist, good colleagues who care & from my holiday family, great assistance staff, & a sunny last dayUse it up, wear it out

f0xh0les said:It is going to be trial and error @ditty1234 , kind of like bringing a newborn home, you have no idea what you don't know you need, and have no idea what on earth other people thought they needed 'X' for. With my step-gran who suddenly went immobile, having a stool (and then later an armchair) in the kitchen, and a kettle tipper thing, made her feel like even though she knew she was too wobbly to carry the hot drink through to the living room, she could still make one whenever she wanted, and sit and drink it in the kitchen. Bit of independence.Cakes, cheese, bread, meat etc was all cut into one person portions before going into the fridge/freezer so she could lift exactly what she needed without having to worry about weights, slicing, dropping everything, or having to ask someone else to helpHaving a surface she could put a microwaved bowl on or take something out the fridge, shuffle round a bit, and be able to move it to the table without fear of spilling it. Spilling stuff was her absolute hate. That and having to ask someone for help with something sent her into an absolute tantrum borne of frustration. To be honest she is still like that. But it is frustration, not anger. Well, with her it is a healthy dose of rudeness as well, but I am sure your boy is much better behaved. So you bring your boy home for a sleepover, and keep a notepad to hand, and between the two of you work out what is going to work. But chairs scattered around the place are handy for getting up off the floor if one side of the body is weaker than the other and if he is going to be prone to falling until he gets a bit stronger.Dec 17 would seem like light years away to him, I totally agree. Plus your boy might well have strong opinions about what he will and won't use -no matter how helpful someone else thinks they would be.Isa help to buy: 1000/3000 33%

Morning turtles
I'm on leave today. Had a frustrating day at work yesterday and was up against a deadline. All went ok in the end and finished in time to get to a meeting for PT job#1. Boss hasn't spoken to me by phone or Teams since before DD2 went into A&E, not checked up on how I'm doing or anything - don't think that's good management at allWhen my team member's cat was poorly i checked in on him everyday!!
Yesterday was a NSD. Also did a couple of surveys at lunchtime.
Today i need to do some work for both PT jobs and some self employment; get some fresh air and steps in and do some housework.
ditty - agree, we do whatever our children need, however old they are and no matter what. Good luck
Thrify - welcome back and ouch to your mouth problem, hope you get better soon
love to all

Made an early start yesterday, cleaned the fridge. That is emptied contents (except the door) into 3 carrier bags and put them on the bed, cleaned inside the fridge with warm water and bicarb, did it a second time, sat on the bed and listed all the contents, wrote everything down (like 2 spring onions, one lime , 3 lemons then another one on its own, sachets of various sauces) and put it back. Took me 2 hours.
Broke off to do my sleep clinic appointment by phone - gold star, excellent compliance and consistency, good sleep pattern and I asked about the 'bottle brush' thing I saw on the internet (for the hose). Forgot to ask about power cuts and if there is something I can charge up to use with the machine.
Went back and did my freezer contents - mostly done last week but a bit of tweaking so eg all the kippers are in the same drawer and a deeper look for any hidden layer contents (was putting lots in last week, so shuffle/ tidy/ list was secondary).. Moved my stuff (laptop, drinks and cup, book, charger, tissues, mask) into the front room, did a quick look at mum's freezer then sat in the armchair waiting for the Icyland delivery. All the grocery stuff went in the trolley and down to the shed (part unpacked this morning - needed drinks to finish taking my pills), freezer stuff came in and was put away and then the fridge stuff. Fishfingers and wedges with tartare sauce for lunch.
Only went as far as the shed and came back with 3 bites circling my wrist (more discovered on my thigh and bum when I was in bed last night). I have sore itchy patches on some of my fingers - a combination of scratches, segs and cuts from junk clearing (+ the odd splinter) but have to watch for an eczema outbreak. Back on the bed in the afternoon (done enough work for 3 days).
Couldn't sleep in the middle of the night so moved floor stuff to one side of the room and looked in the wardrobes. The one nearest the bed only has a single layer of cans (okay until 2022). Moved the remaining tinned fruit into the kitchen and stocked up the soup and beans (a variety) and squeezed a few things from the counter into the cupboards.
Hugs for all those who need or want one. I am reading along but I too sapped to do individual replies. Would like to go to town this afternoon to put money in the bank (obviously will do other jobs whilst there) but if I continue to feel weak I'll settle for more clutter shuffling/ clearing. Working my way round the room - all the books on the windowsill were sorted, then the bookshelves (one shelf at a time), top of drawers (using another drawer as a 2 layer shelf) and large bag of assorted medical stuff packed away neatly in a drawer (using 3 small boxes to divide the space) so that all items can be seen.
Grateful for freezer tetris (still some space after the delivery), soup for tea, finding odd treats (one royal ribbon bar fallen behind other stuff in the fridge, a single cherry lip and then a pack of 4 bassets licorice sticks (frantically searching for the small bottles of water). My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage6 -
Wishing you all the best ditty1234. you sound on top of it.Group hug for all you turtles in need of one.May add to ill pile, doubled up in tummy ache since last night. Hopefully started to calm down a bit now. Marmite drink and toast in work for lunch all I fancied. Found some Buscopan eventually will take later if it persists.Well good news I am going to be offered the job I went for an informal chat about, putting an offer in the post to me, hopefully stating what the wages will be, did hint what I am on now and its extra hrs. Start that immediately after being made redundant(end Jan) so have a nice sum of 11k hitting my bank account. I will just have to suck up longer hours than I work now. Sure they are quite flexible company so may be able to sort something out. Happy to not have to play searching the job market as wages here are very low and I detest interviews.New corner couch arrives tomorrow, moved lots of furniture around last night, probably didn't help my tummy ache.Made claims on wooden handrails and posts we are removing from show office tomorrow. They will stop me sliding down slope from my garage in winter, hopefully get someone to put them up for me. Fairly new and saved them from landfill.Everything seems to be going well, however my energy deal is ending with BG and absolutely shocked by the rise if will be a year, not on a fixed tariff goes up by £200 and it I was stupid enough to go on a fixed tariff increase nearly £400. I don't use that much a year usually £650 gas and electric. Some people are going to really struggleGrateful forDry walk but windy at lunchtime, feel better for moving about.Couch should fit in my lounge, I had to measure this morning as I was in panic station!Lovely customer service advisor in bank, so glad I didn't just use cash machine.LBM 13039 1.1.13 Now £0 Finally Debt FreeMortgage free Oct 2019:)EFund/savings £25000 10/11/228

NSD 12.
Holiday order arrived - most of it going back because it doesn't suit me.
Weather's rubbish.
Work was fine.
I did some tidying around the house today while listening to my audiobook. Threw mushrooms into the soup maker so that's lunch sorted for the rest of this week.
Spoke to GP about my stomach problems. Picking up a prescription tomorrow and she says she'll check how things are in a couple of months but to contact her if it gets worse in the meantime.
Grateful today for my audiobook of a really good story that makes me laugh, for the soup maker, for OH wfh too today and making me tea when needed.NST 🐢 & MF before 40 🤸6 -
Evening turtles
Small spend today on a team breakfast, only £4.
Thought I'd be getting a decent amount of work for upcoming weeks but it was all backtracked last minute so I still feel frustrated. I've also discovered some pretty big red flags today about the practice after auditing some work that's causing me some concern. I don't foresee a good future for me professionally at this place and really want to leave... need to step up my job search and also contact my old employer again.

Sticking on NSD 15 as I had to send DS3 out with my bank card to lift money from the hole in the wall so they could buy weekly bus tickets to get them to school. So they are having their own mad independent adventures and being giggly nutters, got to school 6 minutes late, got off the bus on the way home 2 earlier than they needed to, but all fun and games and a learning experience. They are loving it. They sent me a text because they could not remember the bus number to get home, or which side of the road to be on. All 'big boy' stuff. Need to bake a cake for lunchboxes as I got a complaint today (wretch!!)Gratitudes: I can taste some food again!! easy supper of baked potatoes, getting 2/3rd of the house sparkly clean, disinfected, and hoovered before collapsing in a heap with the football tonight, and then The Long Call.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!
