Would you say that this tariff is widely available for Octopus customers to switch to now?Consumerist said:Looking at Helpful Octopus 24M Fixed Nov 2021 v1 online, for typical usage in Eastern region this works out for me as £1,339 pa compared to Flexible Avro at £1,306 pa.If it is reckoned that the price cap might increase by up to 30% from April, it starts to look attractive.Beyond the fact it is listed under 'Current Tariffs', I have no idea. But an earlier post, from NINJA59, suggests it is available.EditI assume it would be listed under 'Historical Tariffs' if it was no longer available.

I wonder why it is listed under 'Current Tariffs' then.MWT said:
Apparently not, it appears it is not one that can be switched to by new customers, or transferred to by existing customers.2010 said:Would you say that this tariff is widely available for Octopus customers to switch to now?

Not getting a clear answer, but although it is 'current' it is not open for existing customers or switching it seems, CS have said 'no' to people and after initially hopeful responses from Twitter they have since confirmed they cannot access it either.Consumerist said:

Sounds like people are panicking a bit. Probably government red tape and stupid Avro Administrators slowing stuff down.seems like they have sorted out 560,000 accounts..Wow i must be one of the 20,000 that have not heard a thing.I was with octopus 2019-2020 and i know they are a far better company than Avro. I too have set up account and Octopus direct debit. And heard nothing. I have £96.40 credit .40 days and waiting. Why are English company's so crap. Why didn't Octopus set up a Forum that Avro / Octopus customers could access instead of just leaving us wondering. A representative from Octopus could pop on the forum and answer all queries.0

Back to Avro standards of honesty then. I thought it was a bit too good to last.

Octopus suffer from being too open at times, they have not yet learned how to be careful about some things that shouldn't be in the open, like a tariff that isn't intended to be generally available.I'd rather have that than the practised deception that seems common elsewhere.

It's possible, of course, that the tariff is only available for switchers via a particular route (e.g. comparison site) or if you have a smart meter or some such.MWT said:Consumerist said:Back to Avro standards of honesty then. I thought it was a bit too good to last.I wouldn't go that far

It is available to all, I had to call them though. Ignore the avro 1 option and just keep waiting until you get a CS rep.2010 said:
I have asked NINJA59, a few posts above, how they got it but haven`t received a reply.MWT said:It does seem that the 'Helpful' tariff is not intended to be generally available so I wouldn't make any decisions based on the ability to move to it...
In the current climate it looks too good to be widely available.
My change was done in less than 30 seconds....2 -
You got lucky it seems, which is good for you, but need to make it clear that it is certainly not supposed to happen that way apparently.NINJA59 said:
