Octopus was not my choice to move to i wanted to move to one of the bigger suppliers,
Octopus Energy taking over Avro Energy customers are now the 4th largest supplier!

How many customers do you think Octopus have ???  SP Retail business supplies gas and electricity to over 5 million households and businesses across the UK.
    EDF  5.7 million customer accounts

According to Ofgem figures to 1st July.  SP has 3.78M, EDF has 4.20M, Octopus Energy including Avro Energy now has 4.25M This refers only to domestic Gas and Electricity accounts, SP and EDF may have more business accounts, but as this site and forum is for domestic users it seems more relevant. And again it depends how you count dual fuel customers as a single account or a double account. Either way you take the figures, Octopus Energy in 4th, 5th or 6th is one of the bigger suppliers.

What is the best website to look for then apart form CA? What would you recommend
Honestly, I don't know. Compare the Market isn't doing comparison now, and Money Supermarket and the MSE Energy Club show more or less the same results. The main problem is that, right now, there is no such thing as cheap energy unless you were fortunate enough to fix before the last few weeks happened.

So in general - What are people doing

Sticking with OCT or moving elsewhere now that everyone knows the prices?

    What is the general consensus

You can also go to each energy providers website yourself and look to see what each offer.

Yes but there are soo many. I wouldnt know where to begin. Forget the big 6 - they are expensive.

Ive always wondered why people choose the big 6 when their prices are so expensive. I mean its not like a car where generally the more expensive the better quality. The energy quality is the same for everyone - so why do people pay more?

But… a large number of suppliers are no longer offering their Ofgem-capped variable tariff to new customers because it will lose them money if they do. The SoLR tariffs will be amongst the cheapest tariffs on the market. Ofgem is unlikely to agree to a deemed tariff which is above the Cap that it itself set.

They’re not always more expensive. I’ve had some good deals from them over the years.
To answer your previous question, I am sticking with Octopus until the switch has properly taken place. I only moved to Avro at the start of September and I can do without any complications from switching again until things are properly in place. The alternative to Avro (which I am regretting not choosing instead right now) is no longer available.
I will have a proper look once Octopus and Avro are sorted, but am not expecting to find anything that’s going to make much odds either way and am resigned to having to pay more.

If you can’t afford it then you need to look at ways to cut consumption instead.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

@xlnc99 in posts above you keep focusing on the cost per kWh for gas and electricity but it is vital for any meaningful comparison that you factor in the standing charge too.

On the Neon Reef question, like others here they seem like a pretty big gamble right now in terms of not going bust soon, and it also forces the complication of having gas and electricity supplies with different companies.

I dont understand but i dont really look too much at standing charges. The reason why - its a very small tiny percentage of your overall cost. Even a very very high standing charge per day results in a small amount of the course of the year. Ive done calculations with a very low standing charge and a high charge but it really makes little difference to the overal bill. KWH is the main thing to look at

I do agree NEON is a gamble but because its soo cheap - it has to be worth the gamble - surley
