Octopus Energy takes on Avro customers

You're readings will go through checks to make sure they are correct so I wouldn't try to inflate them. Anyway if you did inflate them then you would end up paying more each month.Skintsaver said:I switched to Avro about 4 months ago, is it worth inflating my readings so I pay more more on the fixed avro rate rather than octopus rates?0 -
Mark my words - when OCT release their tarriff information you will be kicking yourselfs you have not switched sooner because it will be expensive.
That is the bottom line - forget everything else. There will be cheaper alternatives0 -
The thing that gets me is how can Octopus claim the following on e mail received
We will be in touch with your rates and charges soon, but they will be cheaper than anything available from any other large supplier today — and cheaper than the fixed prices we’re currently offering new customers on our own website.
No matter how you butter the bread it will have to purchase energy at the market price.
No it has not re assured me on bit.0 -
Well we already know what Octopus will be charging through the winter months until the next cap review, and it's a lot less than any fixed tariff available today.xlnc99 said:Mark my words - when OCT release their tarriff information you will be kicking yourselfs you have not switched sooner because it will be expensive.4 -

No it has not re assured me on bit.Octopus will have agreed with Ofgem that they can claim back the difference between what it costs to buy the energy and what they receive from former Avro customers. It will show up as an increase in everyone's bills when the price cap is revised in April.See for example this doc when they took over Iresa's customers as SoLR.N. Hampshire, he/him. Octopus update:
OFGEM, the energy regulator, have now formally revoked Avro’s energy supply license. We are now waiting for the courts to formally appoint an administrator. We expect this process to take a couple of days - until this happens we will be unable to access Avro energy systems. If you have account questions, please bear with us and we can contact you again in a few days.

Not sure how Octopus emailed everyone without having access to "Avro energy systems", mysterious.0

@pearl123 My electricity reading for yesterday is showing now. Just a prod to let you know in case you want to check if yours are showing.lloydyyy said:
Yes - me. The gas reading is showing but the electricity reading is not. On the old site, both readings show. I took screenshots of when the readings were successfully submitted on the new site as proof, along with photos of both meters.pearl123 said:I've just given my elec/gas on the Avro site, via the email link from Octupus. However, on the Avro site it is not showing the updated figures. Anyone, else have this issue?1 -
QrizB said:Final readings go through a third-party validation process. sometimes this results in them being revised up or down. Both suppliers have to put up with this. The "old" supplier gets no influence over it.thanks QrizB for your reply.do you think avro have done a final reading validation check even though my account isn't technically closed yet?or is that issue i have where avro are showing my last reading as being different in different places in their database/ webpages something else?0

I'm interested to watch how this SoLR plays out with Octopus. In particular this aspect:oliverbrown said:Not sure how Octopus emailed everyone without having access to "Avro energy systems", mysterious.
I wonder if they do indeed get most accounts transferred and operating properly within 14 days. Having been through SoLR at the end of last year, and going through it again now (PFP -> BG) that seems a very optimistic target, especially with Avro's 580,000 accounts. 17 days since Ofgem appointed BG for PFP customers and we're nowhere near operating properly! That said, Octopus are "different" and always praised for their customer service, so maybe they will get the job done. Here’s what will happen next:
Within 48 hours
We will contact you with an update.
Within 14 days
We expect to have most accounts reviewed, transferred, and operating properly. Please do not cancel your Direct Debit as we will move it over to us.
