So we know there is a compensation scheme for credit balances recovered by the higher standing charges, but do the new companies have to hire new staff with compensation for it as well?

I still havent had my credit of £53 transferred from avro to octopus?  How long will this take, is the wait indefinite?
Maybe you can email them and attach your bank statement when it was paid? Avro took my money in December and it was not shown on  my Octopus account, I emailed Octopus with the statement and it was sorted in two days. Remember to bar some transactions that you do not want to show.

I was mid switch from green to avro, octopus transferred my credit last week. I hadn't chased them at any point and to be fair to them they've got everything spot on.

Is the tariff name for ex-Avro customers still showing as Flexible Avro October 2021 v1 on ex-Avro customers Octopus Dashboard?
The prices appear to have now been updated to those applicable for the Flexible Octopus April 2022 v1 tariff from 2nd Apil but the tariff name has not changed on my dashboard.
I thought the Flexible Avro October 2021 v1 tariff was a short term tariff for 6 months only and after that all ex-Avro customers would automatically be transferred on to the Flexible Octopus April 2022 v1 tariff?

My tariff shows as Flexible Octopus October 2021 v2, which it had from sometime back in February after Octopus changed it from E7 rates (another story) to single rate for electricity. The rates did update, without the tariff name changing, to the new ones around April 2nd.

Edit: Yes it does say 2021, as I realised after I posted it with 2022!

Octopus have, without me contacting them, finally credited me with the direct debit payment made to Avro after they ceased trading, but not the one before. I'll need to chase this up. One to check for people who were in mid switch when Avro ceased trading.

I thought I was close to the end of the transfer process.

Octopus have added the last EDF readings (I was never "with Avro") after they asked me to send a copy of the final bill and any credits from Avro have been added to my account. They worked out what I owed and I paid this in one lump sum. All that was left was the "It's a bit quiet in here...." message.
Now I see that they have moved the payment I made from being a payment for energy used to being just a credit on the account.

It seems likely the payment has been added to your account as a credit until your first statement is produced.
If you haven't had your first statement from Octopus then, perhaps, if you submit meter readings they will produce one.

The statement was produced otherwise I wouldn't have made the payment in the first place.

any credits from Avro have been added to my account

I'm still waiting for my full Avro balance to be transferred. Octopus keep saying they are waiting for the administrators to send them the money, but that's not really any of my concern. All I'm interested in is that Octopus credit the account. Payments made to Avro before they ceased trading for people in mid-switch to Avro when they ceased trading seem to have fallen down the back of the sofa.
