Octopus Energy takes on Avro customers

E-mail this morning. They’ve estimated a similar monthly cost based on the 3 readings I’ve sent to what we were paying to Avro. We will still owe money but not as much as I’d feared.

But they haven't told you what the April increase will be yet. That's the one that is going to hurt!

Glad you've had that info.

The energy price cap (i.e. your energy charges) will be rising by about 54% from 01 April so you can get a reasonable idea of where you will be until you get a full statement from Octopus..

My control panel is asking for an opening electricity reading. I've had no communication from Octopus, so I'm not going to assume I have to enter it. They should be able to pick it up from my previous supplier.

That's not how it's meant to work.

You tell your new supplier your opening reading and they pass the info back (via an established industry process) to the previous one.

My previous supplier generated my final bill months ago, along with final readings. This is not a conventional migration.

I'm guessing your control panel is currently on autopilot so it's probably safe to ignore it until you get your opening statement from Octopus.

That's my guess too, the system is only set up for conventional migrations hence the messages about needing readings.

No but I know that is coming. I thought I owed £1000+ so I’m in a better position today than I was yesterday.
