I had trouble filling in the form. I tried to scan my vaccine certificate code in (not knowing which one to scan) and after 2 or 3 attempts it essentially locked me out with a message that said something like not to worry it would be checked at UK passport control. I knew then and it turned out to be right that that just meant a lot more queuing as the E-Gate wouldn't accept me which I'm pretty sure was due to the plf as normally no problem with E-Gates. I had to joiun another slow queue to be manually checked although in my case the bloke didn't bother with checking any Covid stuff. That was around 3 weeks ago though.

Also I have used the same code on two plf forms (for two different trips!). The first time I never registered the test kit or took the test because it was so late so it was still available to me for the second.
When I came back from Germany on Monday I hadn't uploaded my Vaccination Certificate and just had a paper copy with me. You don't have to upload it completing the PLF.

Went straight through the e-gates no problem at all and no one asked to see any paperwork in Germany or the UK.
  • Interesting. Maybe in my case it wouldn't let me through for another reason OR things have changed. I definitely remember getting a message about having to show the certificate to the border bloke.
  • We just got back from Spain. We flew with Ryanair (don’t dis me) who requested that all forms were to be in paper format despite previously wanting people to use their phone Apps.
Whilst waiting at the departure gate they came round and looked at all our documents and gave us a ticket. This was then collected by the person scanning the boarding pass as we passed through to the walkway to the plane.
On arrival in Manchester we simply went straight through the e-gates with no further checks.
  • Which bits were they wanting on paper? A bit of a stupid policy that given people will have been in Spain with no real easy access to a printer.

No doubt they'll be a special Ryanair printer charging £5 per sheet with a queue out of the door....  :)

In fairness to Ryanair, if you read their info they do say to print copies of everything and when you are going through the various stages of security etc you will see that there are more delays with people trying to find info on their phone than there are with those who present print outs - especially when one phone is being used to to present info for multiple passengers.
I was going to ask the hotel to print out the return PLFs but as they are 4 pages each I downloaded them and made sure I could access them quickly on my phone. I only needed to show this info at check-in and only the page that shows the name of the traveller.

I'd argue the stupidity is with the gov saying you need to fill in the plf within 48 hrs prior to departure. When I went to Portugal recently I knew the return flight details and my home address where I would be staying upon return to England before I even left the UK. If the system had allowed it I could have filled in the return plf and print it out prior to even leaving the UK, as I'm sure many other travellers could too.
Sorry I can't think of anything profound, clever or witty to write here.
  • The need for paper copies made the return journey somewhat stressful.  Not being a wizz on the phone, I used my desktop to do as much as possible before leaving home. For the return trip I did everything on a borrowed laptop, saved to a pen drive/memory stick and then went to a cyber cafe to print out the forms. It cost an extra 3 Euros.
For anyone without internet access going on holiday seems to be now near impossible.

my 2 of 2 QR code scanned OK, but the wifes did not? now she has to prove her vaccination at airport.
is it worth re trying using my phone or is that just going to screw things up even more?
    what a farce

Using your phone should be fine given you have to login first - just log in under your wifes account.
The final confirmation would  get sent to her email anyway which I assume she has no issues accessing on her phone.

I think that's what happened to me.

In my case after a couple of attempts the system wouldn't allow any more and just said I'd need to prove status at the airport. Is that your case ?
