It was good to see everyone as baffled as I was by the govt instructions.

Eventually I downloaded the QR info as a pdf, took a screenshot of the right hand side of the page ,- the 2of2 section - saved this as a JPEG and uploaded it without complaint from the PLF website.  Hope this helps.
    I did this as well!
I have both the certificate (paper copy that got sent home) and the pass (from the app), but the certificate doesn't have any QR code, just a barcode that can't be scanned on the PLF.
I've got everything with me, both printed out and in pdf, so I think I'll be covered hehe

Tried several times tonight’s to complete the form which doesn’t say anywhere on the govt website that you can’t do it until 48 hours before flying back to UK. Worried now that it will ruin our last evening trying to fill more forms which don’t work properly. The test run tonight was not scanning our qr codes and then several error messages saying we only had one vaccination - it’s all very ill thought through. And none of all these systems snd forms are compatible!!
Just completed our PLF this evening in readiness for our return to the U.K. tomorrow.

The gov.uk site does mention the -48h time frame. It is however fairly straightforward to complete but perhaps allow 10-15 minutes with good wifi or data connection, plus have your passport, test confirmation code, vaccination record and travel details to hand.

It is NOT the bar code at the top of the paper certificate that is needed. It is the 2nd vaccination QR code that you need to scan. Again this is mentioned on the step-by-step instructions on the website as you complete the PLF.

Does one not have to be careful about which QR scanner you use - some are said to include extra software ?

In this case it is the gov.uk site that scans the COVID vaccination certificate QR code rather than any QR reader AP you download to your phone. You just enable your phone/device to allow a photo to be taken.

What do you do if you don't have a smartphone ?

No smartphone - You can used a computer and print off a hard copy of the confirmation documents.  The system automatically emails you a copy.

No smartphone to take a picture of the QR code - tick the relevant box that says you are unable to do so. I guess you then have to just show your hard copy of your covid vaccination proof to checkin.

This whole process is designed to provide a stress-filled end to your holiday. France do not require post-arrival tests for those fully-vaccinated - they have about 1/10th of the current UK covid cases.

One part of the Gov site says to complete the form no more than 48 hours before departure; but when you get to the part of the form where you have to enter dates and times of your journey it stops you if you are trying to complete it 48 hours before arrival.

And the 2nd vaccination bar code appears first on the vaccination certificate.

Why can't the gov.uk site take info about vaccination status from the NHS site? (Because that would make sense.)

A university study showed that the free NHS lateral flow tests were 90% accurate - so why can't we use these on day 2? (Because it would deprive test companies of £millions).

The one thing I can't find is if you are able to use the same test booking code on more than one form. I booked three tests for us; the last time (with a different company) I got three booking codes. This time I've only got one - as yet unconfirmed, despite 24 hours after ordering. I can't complete one form for all three of us, I have to create two (for two adults, one child). If only it were possible to put all members of one family travelling together and resident at the same address on one form. (Because that would also make too much sense.)

Do not leave ordering tests until the last minute; this just adds to the stress! Yesterday, the company I placed my order with promised Royal Mail 24 hour delivery; today it's RM 48 hour - and only after processing the order, as opposed to receiving it. They cannot confirm when my tests will be dispatched. If only I was "lucky" enough to live near somewhere I could pick these up in person.

I also found that no sites had test kits available at the price quoted on gov.uk, and that some sites didn't even advertise the lateral flow test despite being listed as an approved government provider of them.

    It's a mess - as ever!

    @Hyaku

As of just now the Gov site says to fill in PLF 48hrs prior to arrival in the UK.
When I booked our Randox day 2 PCR tests it clearly said to place individual orders in order to get the codes for the PLF.
Given you have already filled in your PLFs I guess you will be home by the time you read this.
The pricing for the tests is bad and I cannot understand how companies are being allowed to offer cheap test on a National site yet are only available to a limited few.
Who did you buy your tests from? Presumably PCR tests?

Sorry I can't think of anything profound, clever or witty to write here.

•Only 50% of arrivals to the UK will be UK residents who have had their vaccination from NHS -

•Your personal NHS Health records are personal to you , the Government cannot share it without you giving permission, that would breach data protection laws. By uploading the QR code you give them permission to access that information relating to your vaccination status only - not your complete  health records .
