Just been and done the final shop of the month, £16.88 in Asda. Pay day next Friday so a slightly shorter than normal month (straight 4 weeks). Total spend for October £158.27/£180. Extremely pleased with that so will aim to stick at £180 going forward 😃SPC #023 SPC 12: £125.86:SPC 13: £214.98: SPC 14: £297.41 SPC 15: £237.27 SPC 16 £335.39; SPC 17 £662.09 SPC 18 £20MFW #21 Mortgage start Dec 2015 £79,950; June 2025 £19,394.00 2025 OP £1589/COLOR]/£2,000 MFiT T6 #3 £19070/£25,500 (72.82%%) MFiT T7 #3 £2050/£21,930 (9.34%)3

Final shop of the month at L1dl, £24.68 and we are now at £278.50/£280 which needs to last until next Friday . Budget includes alcohol toiletries and cleaning products and fortnightly fruit and veg boxes. However that DD didn’t come out this month so have actually spent more than last month (am in fruit and veg debt!)
it was having COVID and needing to self isolate that meant we had to self isolate so online deliveries cost us dear.3 -
£17.17 spent since last post.
£212.46/£240.
£27.54 left.I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy3 -
@goldfinches I luckily have 2 Indian food shops near me, but there are I think 100s of different pulses so I will have a dig to find black urad - its crazy how inexpensive pulses are really.
@Wraithlady thanks on the Deggi Mirch chilli powder note. I will check tescos out!
@nannygladys I always make my own but this golabki recipe looks about right- its with pork https://www.polonist.com/golabki-polish-stuffed-cabbage-rolls/
or a veggie version https://www.food.com/recipe/golabki-polish-stuffed-cabbage-rolls-vegetarian-version-112647
Oct Groceries Challenge Oct 22nd £134.75 of £160 + 65p of £10 bulk
£23.19 spent across lidl and a sainsbury shop on some reduced bulk items in there (rice flour, GF bread, coffee) but have decided its too awkward to have to go through it all and check off what is bulk.
. I will continue to have a bulk pot but have it as part the main grocery spend next month - think to aim for a £160 inc bulk next month.
I think I need to add my 'spare cash/treat cash pot' which I have been spending on crisps and sweets all this month to my grocery budget as it is food... so £17 from that. What is left I will keep as a treat pot for myself.
Still loads veg and food in. Just need eggs, more yogurt, milks and frozen blueberries.
Just batch baked some chocolate muffins so most going in the freezer, they are super rich (used organic cocoa powder, chocolate protein shake and coconut flour) and I had ran out of stevia and sugar - I normally add stevia to these, so this batch are tasty but very rich but not so sweet that I wont eat all of them at one sitting. I am eating them with DF yogurt. So can add the xtra to my freezer delights - I even have a list of frozen ready meals and one of the moong dal I made earlier in the week has come out for tomorrow,.
DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Fizzy drink and doughnuts bought today (oops) - £1.70.

I was doing very well on the NSD front until today I fell off the wagon with a bang as I found a new Chinese supermarket right next to the Barnardo's shop. It was a wonderful cornucopia of things I've only read about in recipes and so of course I succumbed to the temptation and spent £6.97 on firm tofu, edible rice paper and black sesame seeds.
That makes my new monthly total £69.24/£124 and my average daily spend £3.14 which isn't bad.
However, tomorrow I'm going to need milk, yoghurt and radishes as well as ingredients for whichever slow cooker dish I decide to make so I think that's going to come to about £15 or so and won't get me to the end of the month either.
I have acquired (ahem) a bag for life full of windfall apples yesterday - from the back of a local hotel where they were lying on the grass looking delicious - so I'm covered for fruit for the next fortnight or so and I had them stewed with lemon juice and muscovado sugar and greek style yoghurt for breakfast. Yum.4 -

@goldfinches re acquiring apples. I noticed that the place where my son goes to holiday club has a tree still full of apples! He’s there on Monday so I’m going to ask if I can have some 🤞 I’ll be taking a bag with me just in case they say yes.SPC #023 SPC 12: £125.86:SPC 13: £214.98: SPC 14: £297.41 SPC 15: £237.27 SPC 16 £335.39; SPC 17 £662.09 SPC 18 £20MFW #21 Mortgage start Dec 2015 £79,950; June 2025 £19,394.00 2025 OP £1589/COLOR]/£2,000 MFiT T6 #3 £19070/£25,500 (72.82%%) MFiT T7 #3 £2050/£21,930 (9.34%)5
