@carolinerunner - if you haven't decided where to move your bank account I can recommend Halifax for showing you the details of pending items almost immediately you've spent the money. I usually find that by the time I've lugged everything home I can see the payment in my pending section in the online banking and it always tells you who it's for which can be a surprise sometimes as some merchants aren't called by the name you know them as IYSWIM.
I can also say that HSBC are very bad at this and I sometimes have to wait nearly a week to see the details of a payment which is why they are my backup account rather than my main one.
I made a planned visit to Sainby's today and bought olive oil and extra strong foil for £6.75 which makes my new total £100.05/£124 and my average daily spend £4.5 -

Very happy with the above. Should have been £8.53 but cost £3.36 instead.

Nationwide also shows details of pending payments @carolinerunner, I seldom go into my branch but nearness is a big thing to consider when changing bank/building society accountsDo I need it or just want it.4

I've lost the plot this month with keeping track.....but I did luck out with the land of ice order yesterday, their new policy gave me my beef joint for free as it is dated for today, so took me down to £39.47 spend for them.£71.93/ £180.003

Well apparently when I went over by a few pounds that was the sign of a free for all!!
Another £38.80 at Tesco yesterday - supposedly to last us until Thursday!!
£17.50 was wine & beer
Balance - veg, bread, bin bags, eggs, crisps, cookies, chips & burger buns for last nights dinner
£pd is £18.34 in Oct, which is down on Sep but nowhere near the annual target of £16.50 - also YTD at £16.30, another 2 months like Oct and I will hit £16.64 for the year, bearing in mind my mum massively contributed to our shopping bill whilst staying with us for 6 weeks I had hoped to be under target for the year not exceeding it.
I think in November I am going to track every item I buy so I can see where the money is really being spent - alcohol has definitely crept up again, so definitely an area to look at for November in advance of December's excesses!June Grocery Challenge £0/£250
2024 Grocery Challenges Jan - £390/£350 Feb - £431/£500 Mar £499/£500 Apr £729/£700

@Finstickle might it be worth splitting your budget into alcohol and everything else?4

(Slinks in to confess to totally losing the plot this month... between builders & half of my rather large family landing on us to visit the new arrival, I've been hard pushed to keep track of actually feeding them all, never mind work out what it's cost. Dangerous territory! Must do better in November...)Angie - GC Jul 25: £225.85/£500 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)6
