It' been a busy week as I was house sitting for a family member and took DGD1 with me. I added the cost of the main shop to the grocery budget but all other spends like meals out, coffees and snacks came out of the days out/holiday fund, so declaring my October result as £72.86/£70.Grocery challenge 2025: £650/1500 annual budget2

Hello all, I'm up and doing due to sleeplessness so decided to tackle the totting up for this month.
I spent £13.20 at M*rks and £1.25 at Mr T's which makes my new monthly total £118.50 and my average daily spend £4.08. I hope that's it for this month but will wait until it's over before declaring.3 -
I'm throwing the towel in for this month, lost the plot early on and have not got a clue about total but I think it's about £200 range, I must do better on the tracking next month.£71.93/ £180.002

Forgot to add last weeks shop to the total - don’t have much to add on really as it was the last shop of the month for me so:
+£26.05 on a bit of a top up shop
+£5.48 at the corner shop to grab some batteries
+£7.70 on a bottle of wine as a treat
total for the month: £267.53/£400
Well under budget which I’m pleased about but the OH has been away a lot this month3 -
I've just caught up after being away then ill for most of the month. Interested in the coffee debate. I was a proper coffee advocate and like others, very keen on illy and certain Lavazza blends but I also buy Douwe Egberts instant (the dark, intense one) after someone suggested I try it a bit stronger with cold water on it first before adding near boiling water. It's a good option and we intersperse it with using our 4 cup bialetti moka pot (bought in an Italian supermarket for about €12). The instant I have on a subscription.
@LadyWithAPlan Regarding how I use my bulk fund, I run an annual budget with £400 initially in the bulk fund and £200 for ten months (one stores month) and more for December. Any fresh food, toiletries and routine things like milkman and eggs delivery come out of the £200. Anything that I store at home I pay from the stores budget. I just add it on a running spreadsheet entry) and when there is money left in fresh, I move it to the stores fund which also pays for subscription things and cleaning stuff. Our overall has been £3000 for the last four years.
Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
OS Grocery Challenge in 2025 I am at £1286.68/£3000 or 42.89% of my annual spend so far

Hi everyone
Living on our Narrowboat is fun, not much space for storage for food, we have a fridge but no freezer. Shopping is every 3 to 4 days but we've not done too bad. I will add it up and put it on here tomorrow. Internet is a bit hit and miss on the Marina here.
Bye for now XMortgage free September 2021. Narrowboat brought October 2021
Emergency fund £7500
Christmas fund £14303 -
I haven't done very well with updating or staying on budget. I managed to overspend by £100 although that does include some bits I've started getting in for Christmas. I'll try again for NovemberMortgage-free wannabe 2025 £571/30004

I’m done with October. £5.10 to spare. Phew. I’ve (re)learned a lot in October, so November should be easier as a result2

Carolinerunner, I was over by £5.17 so your underspend can help balance that down to 7p overspend 🤣
Seriously though £5.17 over budget and I could tweak some of that into my entertainment spending pot as I bought some puddings for a family gathering but I'll just declare the overspend.Still quite pleased with myself as although I'm still spending quite a lot on food (especially compared to some amazing people on here) but my spending is lower than it has been and we haven't noticed any difference in the quality and variety of our meals.Over to November now4
