October 2021 Grocery Challenge

I dread to think what we have spent so far this month. Since moving out of our house on September 30th and living in our motorhome( should be moving on board our narrowboat 29th oct) as not much space I've been shopping every 2 or 3 days. Spending between £15 and £32. Today's spend was exact £32 and I've brought enough food, milk, juice, meat, veg, cereal and puddings (yoghurts and Mousses) to last us 3 to 5 days, and that did include eco washing liquid and fabric conditioner. We have plenty of dog food to last us another week. Very happy with our shop so far. Touring park is in the middle of nowhere lol so I can't buy more food if I wanted too.😁

Wow! Just wow! @leftatthetrafficlights! That's amazing. I would think you could probably include alcohol in that budget - that's only just over half spent. Wish I could get my spend that low but know I can't as DH insists on meat in most meals; he'll eat the odd vegetarian meal. IIRC you are vegan so I think that probably helps to keep your spends low as well.

@joedenise - the budget would be well and truly blown if we ever included alcohol!! 🙈😂
Yes, I am vegan and cook pretty much everything from scratch so that definitely keeps the costs down- dh is omni but tends to eat vegan most of the time for his evening meal - he'll have fish or meat with salad at lunchtime but tends to buy ys meat when it's available, cook it and then freeze in portion sizes to get out for lunch. I normally have the last night's dinner leftovers for my lunch so I don't need to think or buy for those 😉DNF: £708.92/£1000

Beer, wine & milk at the co-op last night - £12.90
Finalised Asda delivery order at £85.04 today
Current total £477.87/£480.00 - £2.13 left
not much for top-ups next week so hopefully we'll last. The order includes bread and 4 ltrs of milk which are my usual 'run outs' and I have flour to make bread if needed.
I really thought about quantities this shop in terms of only getting what we would likely need for the coming week, however things like nappies and wet wipes added a fair bit (we only use disposable over night and in emergencies) but Asda brand only came in a super pack at DD size, should last 2 months and by then she might be in training (maybe).
Let's see how close I can come, a week to go today!!!June Grocery Challenge £0/£250

Think it would probably be the same for me which is why I also have a category on YNAB for Wine & Beer!
Went shopping yesterday and now down to £170.39 left for rest of the month so seem to be doing OK this month. Will need to do a bit more tomorrow as forgot to get eggs plus I also used up some of my dried spices yesterday making up a batch of curry powder as had run out. I like to make my own as haven't been able to find a ready made version that hits the right amount of heat for us but with the mix I make I know that for making a batch of curry 2 Tbs is right.
