Am I able to switch back to Santander from either my Nationwide or Lloyds to get the switch offer, given that I left them for a switch offer just days ago? Or would they reject me pretty much instantly?
Only way to find out is to apply for another Santander current account.

It's worth noting though that there is a clause in the switch offer that says they reserve the right not to pay the cashback where the offer is abused and gives the example of switching out and back in again!
I have seen this term, I would hold onto this account for some time and would hold off on switching for some time I think, but they aren’t to know that I wasn’t abusing the switch offer… bit of a predicament.
That's my take on the matter as well, given they specifically mention the "closing only to switch back" as an example in their T&Cs - I'm going to keep both my current and new Santander accounts open until the incentive is paid out (even though I already had my existing Santander account set up as a donor for switching!).

One point to note about the questions I was asked when I was arranging the switch. I was asked when I want the switch to go through ... "Immediately or at a future date"? .... I opted for a date in early October, and was told the Switch would occur 7 working days later. I corrected the agent and said I wanted the switch to go through on that particular date, not 7 days later! He said then I would have to pick a date 7 days earlier to make sure that the date of the switch occurred when I wanted it to. In all the many switches I have done, I have never been asked to set the date that the process of switching starts .... always the date of the actual switch! Just something to watch out for!
    I noticed the same.

I requested a switch for 01/10/2021, only to receive an email to say that my switch will go through on 11/10/2021, as instructed.

I know I didn't insert the wrong date as I selected the day after the monthly interest hits the donor Virgin account.

As the 1st is a Friday, 7 working days is probably 11th, taking into account two weekends.

Cba to try contacting them to change it.

I'll leave it as is and collect a bit more interest from Virgin in the process.

Never chosen a start date for switches before though. And I have done about 8 or 9 now. Oh well.
I noticed this as well - it doesn't really bother me in the grand scheme of things but I also don't recall seeing a switch form where you are choosing your start date rather than your end date...

Called to switch an old TSB account into an active 123 lite. Relatively straight-forward process, helpful operator who put it all through, starting today.

From terms: "We will assess the Qualifying Account 60 days after the switch has been instructed to decide whether you have qualified for the Switcher Offer and the Cashback Payment under these Terms. If you qualify, we will make the Cashback Payment to you within the next 30 days following our decision. "

So between 60 and 90 days... from INSTRUCTION - (eta) so maybe 10 days less from switch if you go for immediate switch.

Just been into my local branch, and was told to go away and phone up to request the switch. I was told that the web site is being updated to say that the switch can be initiated by phone for existing customers. Bit peeved they didn't offer to do it anyway, since I'd made the special trip to the branch as instructed on their Web site. I don't like reading numbers out over the phone as there is too much scope for errors creeping in.

Start a formal complaint, you will most likely get an extra £75 for "closing down complaint & going away"

    Dear All

I already have Santander 123 lite. The switching rewards

    https://becleverwithyourcash.com/santanders-bank-switch-offer-get-130/

    https://www.santander.co.uk/personal/current-accounts

I currently have a non Santander donor accounts that already have 2+DD that I could switch over to Santandwer to get £130 reward.

    We have two options

Option 1: Switch to existing 123 Lite, switch and close the donor account including DD using switching service.

Option 2: Apply a new Everyday account and switch and close the donor account including DD using switching service.

In my opinion Option 2 is a better option as you still have the newly open donor account that you could switch again when there is a new opportunity in the market. Also, it is less risky than Option 2. With option 2 they might not recognise the account switching and you do not get £130 switching bonus.

But disadvantage of option 2 is a new search on your credit file even if you do not ask for OD facility??

Have I missed something here? Your opinion please?? Thanks

Your option numbers are mixed up in that paragraph about which is best, but I know what you mean.

One other thing to think about - your Option 1, switching to an existing account, means a phone call apparently, can't be done online (see comments above) but Option 2 switching to a new account can, I think, be done online.  So Option 2 is less hassle - though may trigger a credit search..
  • Is there a designated phone number for switching an account into an existing Santander account ?

    Thanks.
