Apologies if already asked but can you get joint accounts for this or a 2nd card so my wife could take advantage of the cash back too?
Any reason for not opening a second account for her?

I assume if you open a second account with partners name, any tax implications on savings interest would still be allocated to you and not your partner?
There is no link between the partners' accounts. Any tax obligations will be in the name of the respective account holder.

Banks pay interest without tax deductions and report the interest they paid to the HMRC. Basic and Higher Rate tax payers have annual allowances of £1,000 and £500 respectively. On anything above their allowances, people will have to pay tax, either by a direct payment to HMRC or through their PAYE tax code.

Also, at Chase you couldn't open an account in another adult's name, as the application process involves a selfie and the passport/DL of the applicant. At other banks, you might be able to, although strictly speaking it is not allowed unless you have POA, and even with POA, opening new accounts for another person is not always allowed.

I thought if you just add another savings account and call it your partners name the tax implication on interest won't go against her tax allowance as Chase won't have any details of the partner other than a name, so any interest in how ever many savings accounts you open will go against the main account holder.
However I see additional accounts get a new account number so does this mean tax on interest would go against the partners allowance?

The name on the additional savings account is just a label, it has no link to anyone else in any way for tax or other reasons.

Yes that is what I thought, just the different account numbers threw me, I checked with Chase who told me additional accounts interest shouldn't go against my tax allowance, but then finished by saying all accounts are still considered mine as I am the one registered with them. So contradicted themselves really.

Since applying last night I was getting the “sorry for the wait” message on the app while they check things. Received a text saying “ we’ve run our ID checks, please head to the app”. Still getting the same sorry for the wait message on the app.

I know they re incredibly busy but wondering why send out a text when nothing seems to be updated.

Have emailed Chase support-Won't hold my breath
I did. I got a canned response 2 weeks afterwards asking me to "update to the latest version of the app" (the one it wouldn't let me download) and to update to the latest version of Android "as it won't work with Android 7 or before" (I told them it was Android 10).

Someone else on a different forum told me it rejects certain phones that are not high spec enough.
Actually got a reply from their CS

"We’ve reviewed your email  and unfortunately if you are receiving this notification then the app is not compatible with your device.

We apologise about the inconvenience and thank you for wanting to bank with us."

I just think they've redlined certain phones irrespective of compatibility.

    From another thread

A number of Android phones that run Android 8.1+ are unsupported by the app due to hardware issues – they have a 32 bit processor rather than a 64 bit processor. This applies to both Motorola E6 and G7. I am sorry but we will not be able to process an application unless you have a supported phone.

Somebody commented on FB that the woman in the ad appears to wear a hijab. Seems a shot in the foot if so, as interest is haram under Sharia law.
Not all Muslims adhere to all Sharia law, same as Christians don't follow all of the ten commandments. You can wear a head scarf without being muslim as well.

There are vegetarians that have a sneaky bacon sandwich too & meat eaters that eat vegetarian food (though I do know one person who is triggered by non meat products).

There must be very few meat eaters that eat no vegetarian food.
