Never actually, but I think of it like insurance, hopefully never need it, and make a judgement call on the 'cost' of using a credit card.Daliah said:
True - though how often have you had a Section 75 claim for these sorts of payments? I am nearly 70, a prolific spender, and only ever had one case for a claim in my entire life. That was for a ticket to an event which didn't take place as the company had gone bust. I had paid with a Nationwide Credit Card but as it was below £100, it was just a normal Chargeback claim, not a Section 75. I got my money back in full, just days after I'd raised the claim. I start thinking about Section 75 when it's upwards of £300 - £400, and only when I have reason to believe I won't get what I paid for. For instance, I am quite relaxed to pay a dentist or a John Lewis or M&S or Amazon bill with a debit card, as I can do a Chargeback if the worst comes to the worst. But I wouldn't chance a holiday or car hire without at least a small Credit Card payment.k_man said:
That split methods works well for very large purchases, or anything with a deposit.Daliah said:
Valid point, though with a bit of planning it can easily be overcome. For example, I recently had a larger purchase of some £4,000 to make. The firm agreed to take £10 from my credit card, and the rest went onto my Chase card. £20 more cashback than I would have got with my credit card, kerchingk_man said:
One reason could be that using a credit card (with low/no cashback) offers payment protection (E.g section 75).
. I'll do similar with a holiday I am about to book - deposit payment goes onto credit card, and the rest onto Chase.
It's the smaller ones (over £100 obviously), especially online, where splitting isn't an option or not any easy one, especially if only for a few £.
Although to be fair, my CC has cashback anyway, just not 1%.

Has anyone used the support from Chase for the current or savings account?
Dealing with HSBC support now, they insist on having to call and they are absolutely awful.
Considering a full switch, even if it has to be manual.0 -
Chase support has been very good so far, miles better than most other banks. Mind you, they had a relatively small number of customers to date.Fernastian said:Has anyone used the support from Chase for the current or savings account?

If you want to switch away from HSBC, Halifax currently have a nice switch offer. I don't need their CS so don't know what it's like but I use their app a lot and it's perfect.
You can still move your DDs and SOs manually to Chase if that's what you feel like doing after the switch to Halifax. Would be a shame not to use your HSBC account to collect the Halifax £125 first though
EDIT: ignore the switching bit. Just seen from your other post that you have already exhausted the switching opportunities.
It's always good to have a second current account (you already have the Chase one), and not put all your eggs into the same basket.0 -

I tried to download the Chase UK app following its feature in this weeks MSE email, but I'm getting "Your device isn't compatible with this version" error from Playstore. I'm on a Android 7 smartphone. Does that sound right? there is no mention of minimum system requirements. I'm not buying a new phone, so is that the end of the line ?

Smartphone requirements
- Your smartphone will need to run iOS
14 and above, or have access to Google Play on Android 8.1 and above.
Just so you know, some devices are not supported due to hardware
limitations.
