I assume other Chase customers have been told their debit card will soon expire. I thought one of the 'selling points' of the numberless card was that it wouldn't require replacement, I guess I was wrong as they've said they're sending a replacement card.

Won't it be because of any chip updates

The physical card definitely has an expiry date and a separate 16 digit card number (PAN) from the one in the Chase app. I'm not sure that Chase suggesting the card details in the app match the physical card is that helpful (e.g. on their adverts). It can cause problems when collecting tickets or any situation where the retailer is going to verify the card number before releasing goods as they wont match.

They had officially committed to this a while back  but it then went all a bit silent. Some of the early surveys for the pilot customers also included questions around international payments (they have yet to activate the IBAN/SWIFT details) and multi currency accounts as well as Credit Card. If they could leverage their existing relationship with some travel partners to create reward credit cards they could easily pick up the customer base previously held by Creation and Barclaycard (Hilton launched a Pre Paid Card recently but the legacy Barclaycard Version is still live for existing customers)
  • Found out yesterday that Chase do not pay cashback when you "tap" on a bus, but they do when you pay for the return journey through a mobile ticket (app)  🤷‍♂️

Only talking about 2p, so of no concern really, just highlighting for others whose fares may be greater.

You may even already know  I didn't search the forum to see if this info has been shared before tbh.

Would that be for example where there's a price cap depending on journeys, and money isn't taken until following day? Maybe check the cashback later on if the case. On the rare occasions I've used public transport, I've received cashback

I assume none of the above taps were on Stagecoach, as they process taps off-line and the Chase card mandates online authorisation. Using the app would be a workaround. I've had cashback on other bus companies whose ticket machines permit online authorisation, but usually they settle the full amount later which has been mentioned.

Possibly. I don't normally use the buses, however, yesterday, trains were being delayed and cancelled at an untrustworthy rate, so I did.

This was Chase note in the transaction:
