For no explicable reason I've been locked out of my Chase app and it's asking me for my passport to log back in, and then it doesn't recognise it!

I made a payment to closed account from Chase to Chase. This payment is not showing in the history of my account, but money is gone. I also got email from Chase telling me:

"Your payment to XXX at 12.35PM on 01/11/23 hasn't been made as their account is closed. Please ask them for a different account to pay into..

You may have also received a text message from us about this, but we were unable to confirm it reached you.

    Yours sincerely,

    Chase Support Team"

I'm on a chat with support, who first implied I'm stuping and made payment from different account, because they can't see the payment. After I got email and pasted it to them, they started to investigate, but still no progress.

I wonder if it happened to anyone else and when did you get your money back in the account? There must be some automated process, since I got email already.

  • Was the closed Chase account CASS away, to your knowledge?

If so, the money is likely sitting in the account switched to, per CASS.

Though I would have expected Chase to "see" the outgoing payment in your transaction feed.
  • I don't know if the closed account was switched. I don't know that person enough, to ask.

Still no sign of transaction in my account history, not the money. Support raised ticket.
  • Thinking about getting a Chase account and card. However, all my spending is usually on credit card and bills paid via DD. The list of exclusions seems rather long so not sure if an account is worth it for me.

Is there anywhere a list of things qualifying for cashback and are there any loopholes to get the cashback e.g. NS&Ipayments work for the current Barclays cashback?

You're never going to find a list of everything that *is* included as qualifying for cashback (for example, I use a NRW cafe quite often, which does not give me cashback when I expected it would), all you can do is interpret the exclusion list. I wouldn't expect something like NS&I payments to work, I think if they did, someone would have posted about it by now.

Thanks, I was more like compiled list of things people experienced to work e.g. TV licence was said before works. Only read the last 10 or so pages. Reading the full 188 pages is a bit too much. Probably not worth the bother to have an account with them in the end.
